Update!

Hi everyone!

Am just wondering if someone could give me sum info on the area and what its like, i am in block 5 and am planning on coming out for the first time within next couple months have not yet had the chance as yet? also how do you get to the apartmnets from alicante airport is it by taxi for easiest if so how much is that roughly please? many thanks for your help. Welcome to Mar Y Sol! It's a great place. We bought in February this year and have been out there several times and so have friends and family who all loved it. Formentera is quiet and friendly. Some bar/restaurants, but not many. Rojales (out on to the main road and turn left) has more shops, bars, restaurants etc. as does Benimar and Benijofar (all walking distance).

The Tapas bar next door to your block is very Spanish and lovely.

Guardamar is the nearest beach and it is absolutely stunning there. It also has loads of restaurants, shops etc. but most of the restaurants close in the winter.

Torrevieja is home from home - very English, very lively, still lovely though. Everywhere is nice and clean and welcoming.

Our advice would be to hire a car. You're probably going to need to go shopping, unless you're bringing your home from England and to get around to see everything a car is a must. I believe a taxi from Alicante is about 60 euros each way - you can hire a car for a week for less. There isn't a bus apparently. You should also consider flying into Murcia. It's smaller and you wizz through much quicker. I don't know if there are buses though (doubtless someone on EOS will though, because they're a smashing helpful bunch).

Were buying on the Brisas Del Mar block, I went out in May for 4 days and made the mistake of not hiring a car.  Its an absolute must.  There are buses that run in the village but the times are vague, we waited for two hours to go to Guardamar then gave up (the cleaner ran us in the next day for 20 euros), although 3 went into Orihuela running the other way.  There is only one bus stop in the village which is the Guardamar, Torrevieja, etc run, - to go towards Orihuela, you need to stand outside the Chemist which is opposite the bus stop.  It certainly appeared to work for those who were waiting.

Hi Daz l think you will love it when you get it sussed (part of the fun) l taid 25euros from Alicante to Almoradi which is just 5 mins from Mar y Sol (l have an apartment in the next block Brisas Del Mar)  As Sharron said There are Buses to Guardamarbut on there winter schedule they only run a few a day (about as regular as a sunny day here) they are more frequent on the summer schedule ( July-Sep) they are more frequent to Orihuela because they Pass the area Hospital on the way (Vega Baja Hospital) Regards Pat.
