Hi All,

It does seem like I am the first Mojon Hills buyer to post on here so I have now uploaded some photos of the development from when we went out in April 06.

We have bought a three bed upper floor on phase one.  We were told that this phase should be ready in Jan 07 but not really expecting to get it then.

Hope evryone is happy and well.

Hello!!

Like you I have seen no other messages anywhere from people buying on Mojon Hills and they must be somewhere!!  (By the way couldn't see any of your pictures on this site).

We have bought an apartment on Phase 3 so you are well ahead of us.   We bought it in Feb 2005, when we were out there in Feb 2006 building had started.  We originally thought we would be in by Summer 2007 now it seems it will be Summer 2008 at the earliest, really annoying but what can you do!!  When we were there last Feb, Phase 1 was well on the way, but will be interested to know when you do actually get in, I think they have to finish a whole phase before they release any of it.  Are you intending living there or just for a holiday home.

We are going out again in December for 4 months so are looking forward to seeing what is happening.

Hope you get this message.

Best wishes

Hello Jaymin,

Great to hear from you.  You should be able to view the photos by clicking on the 'shared photos tab at the top of the page by the eyeon spain logo.  This will direct you to a search menu etc.

We have just heard that phase one will complete in January 2007 and this will be confirmed or corrected later in November.  We will post as soon as we know anything.

When we receive completion notification we will probably secure the services of a surveyor in Spain to snag the property for us and double check the paperwork and services.  Check out snagging on asnother thread on this site.

Are you moving to spain for good or using the property for some time away and renting out the rest?  We are undecided yet .  I think a lot depends on how our spanish lessons go as if we take the plunge to re-locate, we would want to start a business or something to keep occupied.

Anyway, all the best for your trip in December.  We are green with envy!   We are investigating the best way to furnish a new property and will hopefully make a posting about this soon.  Anyone with advice on this please get in touch.

Hasta luego

Hello again

Glad to see my message was posted in the right place!

Our intention is to live in Spain but as I said before we were expecting to be in by next summer as we have our house up for sale.  Not so worried about that as if it sells we have a caravan which we usually go away in all summer anyway.

After we have been this Xmas we shall no better how we feel and then probably sell our house in the Spring  and then go and get a long term let in Spain until our place is finished. My husband is 68 now so feels he is going to be too old by the time it is finished!!  Originally we did just buy to sell on  and managed to get an apartment on the front block of Phase 3 so gets full sea view, so hopefully if we did have to sell on it should sell OK.

We bought our apartment via  Maura and Pat Dunn (ADS Property website), they are brilliant and have done everything for us, have become friends now,  no charge whatsoever, took us to get our number from Police Station etc, send us pictures of progress.   They live in the tall blocks at Isla Plana and are buying an apartment in our block too which is really good.  Their website is worth a look (they don't charge for anything - just get properties for people), I know Maura knows a lot about getting furnishings and the best places to go. Also our friends here (where we live - which is Lincoln, where do you live?), have an apartment on El Alcolar and they know about furnishings.  I will tell them about this website and they may post some advice. They have just come back from the Port and say we will hardly recognise the area because of all the changes since we were last there in February, can't wait.  This is our 3rd Xmas there and the last two years have enjoyed gorgeous sunny Xmas days, so are hoping for the same this year.

Like you, we are pleased to at last hear from someone who is buying at Mojon Hills, and will be really interested to hear about what you think when you get moved in.

Hope I haven't rattled on too long for you.

Best wishes.

Jaymin

Hi Jaymin,

I think you would make a nice profit if you were to sell on but would wait for  phase four to be finished before you did.  We didn,t get in till april 2006 as our aartment was a resale.  It is a three bed on the top floor with solerium and 180 degree sea views.  We paid 195,000 Euros for it and still don't know what the taxes and fees will run to but expect about 10% ish.

We hail from Oswestry in Shropshire which nestles up against the welsh border and is a wonderful place to live.  I am 32 and a Dental Nurse.  My Husband has been dabbling in property for a few years but never abroad.  He is a partner in a little picture framing business and his hobby is losing vast sums of money on the stock market.  His last dead cert cost us eighteen thousand pounds which I think, would have been better invested in shoes.

I will check out your friends web site and devour any advice that anyone wishes to pass along about anything.

Christmas in the sun sounds very nice.

Kind Regards

ONQ

Hello again

Sorry, when I replied yesterday I only read your small message asking for the website.  Very interesting to hear how other people get into buying a place in Spain.  We were only over on holiday and came back having bought an apartment after meeting Pat and Maura.  At that time Pat also had a taxi business and told us about the properties while driving us back to the airport, so we went back to Spain the next month to have a look.   We paid 180,000 euros for the apartment which is  3 bed, 3 bath, ground floor with large terrace and small garden.  Sounds idylic and I am sure will be when it is eventually finished.   You are very young, and a great age to get into buying abroad.  We are both retired (but very young at heart!!), but that is why we are disappointed about the delay in finishing dates.

At least yours is within sight.  Actually we will still be over there when your phase is completed so we will be walking over that way to see how it has turned out, which will give us an idea of how ours is going to look.  We did go inside a phase one apartment last February when it has just had the basic tiling done, but it had a fabulous sea view.

We went to Oswestry a few years ago in a rented cottage we thought it was a lovely area, well we went that way a couple of times, I think one cottage was on Offad's Dyke.

We have had a little dabble in some land in the UK and were lucky enough to make a good profit which is why we were able to invest in Spain, but I think it is harder to get a bargain these days.  Still we have paid 50% of the price of the apartment in Spain and have 50% to pay on completion.

Xmas is nice in the sun, although it can be very cold in the mornings and evenings and you need heating in the apartment just like at home.  But usually from about 11am - 4 it is lovely and warm, and of course blue sky, and blue sea.  Heaven!!

How did you get to hear of Puerto de Mazarron.  We heard through a friend, who also heard from a friend.  I think there are quite a few people from Lincoln in the area.

Look forward to more news in the future.

Hi Jaymin,

Well I suppose I should introduce myself properly.  My name is Nicola and my husband is Keith.  It really is nice to be able to communicate with someone else who has taken the plunge at Mojon Hills.  It makes it less daunting somehow.

Have you managed to view the photos we posted yet?  I'm afraid we only took close up pictures of phase 1 as we didn't have free reign to roam around the site.

We found out about Mazzaron through a seminar we attended at a hotel in Oswestry which was being held by one of Keith's old customers ( He used to own a company that sold photocopiers...) called Simply Overseas.  It's a bit long winded but we had previously been over to Bulgaria to look at the market there but couldn't see an exit strategy with so much development going on.  The resale market was non existent in other words.  However that trip sort of made our minds up that we wanted to invest abroad so, when we went to the seminar we said "ok, book us on a vierwing trip to Spain"  We had never even heard of the Costa Calida let alone Isla Plana but, as soon as we saw the Mojon Hills development, we were hooked.  The contrast to Bulgaria was absolute.  We felt that the location was to say the least privaleged and the prices didn't yet reflect the staggering amount of infastructure and investment the area was enjoying.  I think we were very lucky to find such a special place and, judging by the speed that plots have sold at Mojon Hills, we are not isolated in our opinion.

We really hope you will be able to post some photos on your next visit.  And not just of Mojon Hills either but the area in general.  I heard that they were going to extend the promenade at Puerto de Mazzaron down to Isla Plana.  I wonder if they have started this yet?  There is also a motorway link being put in as well.  And a golf course?

OK, enough of my babble.

Hope you are happy and well

Regards

Hello there

Thanks for all the info, nice to know more about other people buying at Mojon Hills.  I agree with what you say about Bulgaria, I have seen lots of programmes about buying there but didn't appeal to us at all.  We had never thought about buying anywhere before, but when we saw Mojon Hills and the area around Isla Plana and Puerto de Mazarron, we loved it and  saw the potential if we wanted to sell the property on later, but also thought it would be a lovely area to live in.  I have looked at your photos and reminds us of how lovely it is.  I have posted a few pictures of the area rather than the building site.  There are lots of pictures of all the phases on the builders website, I will post that address for you separately as I will have to look for it in a minute.

I think the Paseo is intended to go right around from La Azohia to the Puerto eventually, but don't know when that will be, as they are concentrating on the Marina at the moment, and also the road network.  I think there is already a new road from Cartegena to the Puerto that avoids Isla Plana, but havn't been on it yet, although our friends have just come back and said it is really good.

How long were you there on your viewing visit, was that your only visit?  If so, you must be really looking forward to going back.

When are you going over next, will it be when you get the release date?

Best wishes

Ann and Bob

Hello both,

We have been enjoying the photos you posted and also the ones on the Atlantia site.  Its funny but the whole thing still seems very remote, almost in some sort of limbo at the moment.  Life is all about Waiting this year as we are eager to see the last flat completed here as well as the Mojon Hills project.

We were only on the ground for four days in Puerto de Mazzaron so had no chance to explore the vicinity at all.  The first few properties we saw were horrid and there was a lot of graffiti which I wasn't expecting.  After two days we were quite certain that Spain was going the way of Bulgaria and our money would be invested elsewhere.  And then of course, we stumbled upon Isla Plana and everything changed.

We don't know when we will be going back.  We are very busy trying to get our pensions secure at the moment so our later years will be comfortable.  Pensions of course are the rent from these few flats which won't bring in much, but should exceed what the state provides.

As you know, we plan to use a professional snagger to see the property completed to the correct standard so we will go to Spain after they give us the OK.  When that will be of course, is up to the builder.

Are you tempted by the furniture packs and air conditioning units offered by the builder?  We were told by one snagging company to use IKEA as we would save a fortune and have better furnishings.  We still know nothing about this.

Ok.  hope to hear from you all soon.

Regards

Nikki & Keith

Hello again

I think it depends on how much time you have to spend on looking for furniture yourself.   Our friends bought their furniture theirselves from a shop in the Puerto, (will ask them for the name), they were really helpful, swapped things about if they changed their minds.   And if you buy things like mirrors etc they are quite happy to come and put them up, but I think most places in Spain are like that.  Also you don't get any light fittings in new properties and the place they bought the lights from was very good and came round and put them all up for them at no charge.   Other people we have spoken to have bought the packages, and the apartment we rent has the package and it is fine, settees really comfy and different colour choices etc.  Air con, not sure about that will ask our friends.  So probably that is easier if you are not moving in yourselves.

As we intend to live in our apartment we would probably go for the package with some changes as we don't want to waste space in the living area with a dining table and chairs, rather have two big sofas for comfort and a breakfast table area between the kitchen/lounge area.  We will have a table on the terrace, and most of the year will be able to eat outside.  The long term plan we have if we eventually move there is to hopefully have the terrace glassed in for the winter.   Oh well, all a long away for us but not too long for you - lucky you.

Hello to all posters of messages about Isla Plana - Mojon Hills

We have also bought a penthouse apartment in Mojon Hills but it is on the last phase to be built so we have quite a long time to wait for it to be completed.  It is quite exciting though thinking about it!  I happened on this website whilst googling for information about Isla Plana.  I have seen the pictures on the Atlantia Website but would love to look at your pics of the area.  Where do I find the links please, I could not see them in the message board.

I looked extensively in Murcia area, in the mountains originally - as I do love the mountain areas but when I saw the sea views in Isla Plana and the location I just knew that this would be a great development with good potential for resale if we wanted to. I think it is going to be a fantastic resort when all the building is finished.  It still has the Spanish feel to it unlike some of the areas on Costa Del Sol.  I plan to go out next spring to investigate the surrounding areas and see what is going on at the development.

Love to hear from anyone and see your pictures!

Thanks Pauline

Hi all, and welcome Pauline!

I think with regard to furniture, we will probably decide when we see the apartment completed.  The idea of a table on the terrace as opposed to the lounge is very good.  I suppose we could also have something on the solerium?  I don't think we would be able to glass in our balcony area as it also has the stairs that lead to the roof, but we would consider it otherwise.  We have also heard of companies installing light fittings for free.  Maybe it is how the Spanish do things.

Great to hear from you Pauline on phase four (fase cuatro?).  Have they given you any indication of a rough completion date?  Your completion is the one I think we are all waiting for as I don't think we can use the apartment for holiday lets with building work being done so close but, I guess only time will tell.

I think it will be sometime in Spring when we will next go out, probably half term.

We have the name of an English couple who operate a property maintenance business and also Airport collection service if anyone should need these services.  They are Brian and Marie and they live in Puerto de Mazzaron.  Their email address is:-  higgyavit@msn.com  We also have their telephone numbers if needed.  Look forward hearing from you all soon.

Regards

Keith

Hi Keith

Yes we're on phase 4.  I think early 2009 was the date we were given but another correspondence said it could be late 2008.  Great to know that you have found a property maintenance service - I will check them out.  I think the terraces on our apartment are quite large and have more than enough space for tables chairs sunbeds etc (the inside of the apt is not very large though).  I am sure the office staff mentioned that they could glassed in for winter but not sure if this would make it a bit of a greenhouse in the summer though ! Have to see what it looks like first.  What phase are you on?

Hi Pauline,

We are on phase One and should be completing anytime between now and next spring.  I agree with you that our apartments are small inside but no worse that anything else we viewed.  Mojon Hills had by far the best location and the views from the solerium are a real bonus if ever you needed to sell.

How did you find out about Mojon Hills?

We bought through an agent called Spanish Homes 4U in Puerto De Mazzaron who were recommended by an agent here in Shropshire.

Keith

Hi Keith

We bought ours through Mercers in Henley on Thames.  We looked at some other properties they were selling near Jerez and they recommended we looked at Mojon Hills because of the location.  Most of the properties were sold on the phases previously released and when we looked there was only one available on phase 4.  I think since then another phase has been released but we are happy with the one at the top of the hill as the views are spectacular and, as you say, you spend more time out on the patio than inside.

In addition to Jerez, we also looked at Conil de la Frontera on Costa de La Luz,  Finca Parcs near Hellin in the north of Murcia - a lovely area and mountain areas near Ronda in Andalucia. Not too long for you now then !

Regards. Pauline

HI Pauline,

So phase four is sold now?  Is phase five the aquamarina development at the bottom of the hill next to the main road?  I think it's right behind the Atlantia Sales hut.  Otherwise I don't know where it is.

Are you enjoying the cold dark nights and the high taxes?

Keep smiling

Regards

Keith
