As a neighbour to AA Thalassa (finally completed on AA Resort) I am hoping that some of the permanent residents will be able to tell me where to look to buy a reasonably priced television when we come over next week. Nothing flash, so long as I can hook up my Sky box and PS2, that will be fine. Also we ned to buy an outside light for the balcony, one for the outside utility area and another for the lounge/ diner. Finally there is the clothes airer and corckery.

Thanks for your input

Mark

You will get everything you need at Fereterria Mojacar or Fereterria Lopez on Mojacar Playa - my preference is FM as FL is very cramped & you can't really see what you are looking at & the staff are not very friendly or helpful - my opinion though. There is also a Fereterria in Palomares. If you go from Vera Play (consum supermarket?) towards Palomares, you will come to a roundabout - turn left, it is signposted for Desert Springs.

Then carry on down this road (quite a lot of bends) then you come to another roundabout where you would turn left to go up to Desert Springs & the Fereterria is on the left hand side.

There is also an English owned shop in Turre that does all that you need. Drive along the main street in Turre & with the supermarket "super Turre" on your left, take the next right & "home sweet home is on your left.

Fereterria Lopez do TV but I have been told not to buy there as they are seconds. Along the road from the Bouganvilla roundabout, going towards Thalassa, there is a shop called D'Pau on the right hand side & they have been recommended to me.

If you are going further afield, Carrefour & Eroski in Cartagena also do TVs.

We basically fitted out our place from the 2 Fereterrias & HSH. Still got to buy the TV & DVD but that is about it.

With regard to your post on the general forum, I seem to remember that Maria has previously indicated that every business has to hold a complaints book & that if requested, it must be produced or else you can call the police & they will be fined. Might be worth a PM to Maria or a trawl through her posts.

Have a great trip.

Noreen

Thanks for the suggestions. I must confess to have thought about buying a TV over here as they are only £100 in Asda for a flat scren, but we will have much too much hand luggage with the Sky box, PS2 and DVD player .

Noreen. Yes, I remember the complaints book that Maria spoke about, but the problem is they are in Madrid or Barcelona (can't remember which) and it is a long way to have to go to fill in a form .

I'd suggest Depau in Puerto Rey for TV. There's a really helpful English guy there.

We bought 2 outside lights at Vera Luz which is on the left going into Vera just before the bullring. The guy came and fitted them the next day for 30 euros.

If you're considering going to Ikea in Murcia, then I recommend crossing the bridge over the motorway to the complex on the other side.  There is a huge Media Markt as good as/better than Currys/Comet.  We got a good deal on a flatscreen here but we purchased our music centre/dvd unit from Depau who were friendly and helpful, with keen prices too.

As far as light fittings, there are some nice reasonably priced ones in  Muebles Flomar on the right hand side of the dual carriageway heading towards Vera.  They have some nice interiors in here; same for the other furniture/interiors shop close by.

There is a ferreteria quite close to Depau too.  If you turn left when you see Depau on the corner, about 20-30m down in the row of shops on the right hand side you'll see the ferreteria.  If you're buying lots of stuff, they're not the cheapest but we bought a few bits and pieces here - the owner is friendly and helpful, eager to please.
