I dont know whether 'in bed with' is the right phrase but they certainly seem to be dictated by them.  However, I wish ours had been delayed as we are paying a mortgage on an apartment that neither us or anyone else can stay in due to the faults in sanitation, not to mention the aircon.

So, I would see it as a bonus that you hadnt completed yet, but do ensure that you go over a do a snagging list prior to completion, as once you have completed there isnt any incentive to do the jobs as you have paid your money. 

If you have bought through an agent, they should be earning their commission and carrying out the snagging on your behalf, as well as progressing it through with KM and reporting back to you.  I'm sure there are lots of agents out there that have seen the bad press on "boilerhouses" and "quick bucks" and want to prove themselves otherwise!

Our agent did all this for us, as well as cleaning the apartment on the morning of completion.  Surely they are not alone???
