HI Shaggi
A lot of people went back to the UK for Christmas and New Year, so yes it has been really quiet here over the last few weeks and I dont think
some people have returned as yet. But there are people alive and well in Las Kalendas,, some of us live here all the time but there are quite a few holiday homes
Building is ongoing all the time and since my arrival in September I have notice that at least 12 houses have been built since we arrived. Obviously there are
busier times as regards people coming and going.
As for the Shops the English butchers is open week days till about 3.00pm and I think Saturday Morning and the Hairdressers twice a week
There is another shop which sells bits and bobs and the Tapas bar just opened before Christmas. There is also another shop beside the other Tapas bar as you drive into the site but sorry not sure what they sell ( please remember they shut for Siesta which it usually 2pm - 4pm most places)
The problem with the shops is a catch 22 situation, the more people who arrive here the more demand for shops. There are 2 fantastic shopping complexes about 20 mins away, Just off the A7 on the way to Murcia.., all the shops you could ask for supermarkets, clothes shops, phone shops, Ikea, DIY, cinema`s, ten pin bowling, toys r us, sports shops, Electrical super stores, most of the well known fast food joints, cafe`s and much more. Also Fortuna has supermarkets, builders merchants, hairdressers. pharmacies and many more there`s a Saturday market, which the fruit and veg is great.
Regarding the houses at the bottom we heard "The agent who was selling those for the builder, ran away with money? " This is only what we have been told and I am not sure of the validity, but this would certainly explain all the houses being finished and no one in them. Hopefully if its true these poor people will get sorted soon.
Lastly having only been here a short while, everybody is really friendly and always willing to help answer questions.
