Hi everyone. Well this site has certainly been busy while we've been away - a real buzz!
Firstly re the earthquake. We stayed in Torrevieja and were woken at around 5 am with a loud rumble and the the apartment shuddered for just a few seconds. We thought it must have been a juggernaut passing, but it turned out to be the E'quake - we survived! We visited Mirador dlv II a few times after this and I don't think there's any damage from what we could see.
Yes, we were surprised (understatement of great proportions!) to find that Peter and Susan (No 40) had moved in. They're another lovely couple and ones who will be very much in demand I think. Pete is an all rounder jack of all trades, and is planning on working out there as painter & decorator, electrician, snagger and possible key-holder for us on site. I've promised to put some words together as an ad for him on EOS but I'll do that separately - watch this space. I've already booked him to put up our lights.
After meeting Peter and Sue we went into Mahersol's office with a view to putting on a little pressure for completion and were pleased that they've agreed to pull out the stops for completion 23 April. We'd already booked flights back last October when completion was still due end of December. So fingers crossed. We've also (after a lot of stress) ordered furniture from a furniture store in Almoradi who were very accommodating and gave us a discount which was a bonus. We also found by accident a 2nd hand shop in Torrevieja (ex UK'ers who have apparently been in business there for over 30 years) who sell a lot of furniture from brits who are disillusioned with Spain and returning to UK. We bought some lights and a few pieces of furniture from them and they have promised to deliver the day after they receive a phone call from us.. Like any 2nd hand place, there was a mix of good and bad there, but worth a look if you're around the Mahersol shop area.
Taken lots of pics and will upload later when I've unpacked and found the camera.
The site is really taking shape now. While we were there, they were finishing off the pool (a bit spoiled by Grupo Mahersol adding their slogan in tiles right across the bottom of the pool) but that said, it is a much nicer pool than I'd feared in the last few months. It appears to be around 6ft deep right across. It didn't appear to have a shallow end - just the separate paddling pool. They were finishing off the walkway paving tiles around it when we left.
Any questions please get in touch either here of by private reply. Cheers.
