We flew into Murcia in February. At the time of booking our flights it was the cheapest option. I thought it was a really lovely little airport. Far less hustle and bustle than Alicante. A much more 'personal' feel. Far fewer queues. However, there are far fewer shops there. There is a small Duty Free. My main gripe was that there was very little choice of food available. We were starving and only managed to find an extremely uninteresting ham and cheese sandwich (uninteresting even by 'usual' airport standards). I would take my own, if at all possible, next time.
One thing to note; if you book car hire through Carjet you may be booked with Auriga Crown. (Or you may book direct, of course). These offices are off airport, but isnt a huge problem. They provide a free bus shuttle there and back. I believe they are moving into the airport sometime soon.
Hope this helps?
