Does anybody know whether extractor fans come as standard on those apartments that don't have windows fitted in the bathroom?

Hi Mike the answer to your question is that there are no fans fitted to bathroom what they use in Spain is passive stats which if you look at the pictures on the tops of roofs you will see like a chimney effect so any nasty smell  in the bathroom disappear up the void and keeps it nice and fresh. So it seems a better system than having a noisy fan. Having read this subject on other Forums I have never come across anyone with a problem with this unless they have some form of damp and building problem. Hope this helps.

HI Mike,

I agree with what Ponti says in that they use Passive Stack Ventilation @ PW, and so do we here in the UK - in its UK Building Regs.  What can be done however, if the "pong" is too bad in the bathroom, is to fit a fan to discharge into the stack, which will accelerate ventilation - please bear in mind however that it would need to be used frequently (to ventilate) as your in effect blocking the stack.
