More flights to Spain for those of us Oop North!!

We had a telephone call from Polaris today informing us that our 20th June completion date had been changed to the 1st two weeks of August. They said it was due to a delay in the ""occupation certificate." Has anyone had a similar delay?

We are supposed to be completing June 25th Jardin 11. We haven't had a call yet may we ask what Jardin you are on? Hope you haven't booked your flights yet. We will wait until we have it confirmed in writing before we book.

Just hope Polaris World will refund flight and hotel bookings for those who have already booked to complete in June???

I believe they do reimburse and this is not uncommon in this process.

We are in Jardin 12 (formerly 11) and have booked our flights and hotel for completion on Tuesday 3rd June, with the snagging to be done on Monday 2nd.  This seems to be the first week of completions.  So far we have not heard from Polaris World that this date will have to be postponed but I expect that we will do now.  If later completions are having to be postponed, I cannot see that ours will go ahead on 3rd June.  I will definitely be asking them to reimburse the cost of the flights and the deposit paid on the hotel. 

We are also concerned to read all the reports about the corruption - as others have said, we hoped that by buying through Polaris World all this would be avoided.  I still believe that Polaris World will deliver but I guess it is just a worrying time for all of us as we are making such a big commitment.

I will be completing on the 16th of june , no phone call yet. I did get my completion date by e-mail so I have their comfirmation in writing so to speak, am I worried about the rumours , no I am not. when they become facts I will deal with them then, thats why we all have solicitors and agents is it not?

This part of the corruption investigation doesnt seem to have made any impact on the Uk news. I know there has been information in the past about the Marbella area and Valencia. But we haven't seen even a snippet- if we didnt log on here we wouldnt have had a clue and I imagine thats the circumstances for most PW purchasers who live outside of Spain, so they are unaware and inconcerned . Our agents have dismmissed this as a 'blip' that doesnt affect Condado so we have to hope they are right. However they knew nothing about the releases happening before December and to be frank were dismissive of that also, 'rumours' they said, although this is the 1st time they haven't been on the ball. It seems nothing is straightforward. We have Bank Gaurentees, so have to put our confidence in them if there is a real problem.

I have just missed a call from Polaris World - message left on my voicemail at work.  I am expecting them to say that the completion date of 3rd June is postponed.  I haven't seen anything about the alleged corruption in the UK news either so it probably is just a 'blip'.  Although we have solicitors, we need to remember that they will only be responsible for ensuring that the necessary planning consents etc are in place.  They would not necessarily have any knowledge or information relating to corruption in the acquiring of the land - I am slightly concerned that if charges are brought against Polaris World and they are fined heavily by the Spanish Courts, could this affect their ability to complete the site at Condado?  I think it is unlikely as Polaris World is a large company with many assets and hopefully, even if they were fined this would not have an impact on their developments.   At least if completion dates are to be postponed by a couple of months, we will have more idea what is happening in the corruption allegation by that stage.  As everyone has said, the finished product is looking fantastic.

Just seen our solicitor today in Murcia, who has many concerned clients in Mar Menor.

He said that he thinks that the worst scenario would be a fine for polaris world and a dent in their reputation. It should not affect us in Alhama.

Everything is in place - the solicitor is just waiting for the final habitation licence.  Without that we can't get our utilities connected.

 

There's a thread on the general forum regarding License of First Occupation and has various input from Spanish solicitors about the process.

I'm sure I read that each apartment has to be viewed before this license can be offered- so maybe thats where delays can be caused.

Just two points to note in all this:

1 - It'll give us all more time to save for furniture and

2 - Tomorrow it will be yesterday's news.

Just been given my completion date between 1st and 15th July.

Sound promising, I am in Jardin no 3.

Was sounding quite worrying with reports  of cancellation of completion dates.

Congrats, I am in Jardin 2 but not heard a dickie bird yet.....  boo hoo !!!!

Received a phone call from PW this afternoon, after I missed their call this morning.  Our completion date of 3rd June is definitely still on - good news!  They were just phoning to see which Bank we were using for the Spanish mortgage.  I asked about people receiving calls to postpone completion dates and was told that our phase is not affected (Jardin 12 formerly 11). 

J. H. Murcia - you are probably right about there just being a delay in some of the properties being inspected for the Habitation Licences. 

Is anyone else completing during the first week of June, or are we the only ones?!!!
