After reading the Spanish news over the last few days I feel a lot happier and I'm looking forward to visiting La Torre, Mar Menor and the site at Condado next week.
It's not often that you read anything positive in the news paper, so perhaps no more news is good news. This may not be the end of this problem but on the other hand we might be making it more than it is. I'm not an expert but I'm not 100% sure the monies Polaris have been asked to pay is a fine. I think it may be the unpaid Tax, which wasn't paid due to the reduced valuation of the plot aquired.
I'm not so sure Polaris will issue any statements on this as they may not realise how many people could get cold feet from the news reports. To be honest any statement from PW could give potential buyers cold feet anyway. Particularly if it's the first time there hearing about it. Maybe a letter to current owners would be good.
Perhaps I'm being a bit selfish but I'd rather we discussed this on a thread with a more positive heading. I don't want to hide anything from anyone and I'd openly discuss as much as I know about PW and my new apartment in Spain. I'd just rather see any threads with headings relating to the Murcia council drift a bit further down the page.

Hi Iain, I agree with you,
If it was such a huge problem the media would be all over it like a rash, I have just looked at the threads in this forum and see that there are a few people posting a few more replies which are more positive about the situation, time for people to sit down and have a cup of tea in the little bit of sun we get here and dream of things to come in our new apartments,
Regards Ken

Think you're right Migde, there's little information so just got to look forward. We've been told this investigation was regarding building plots on Mar Menor. Did you know the ads we're seeing have some differences to those seen in Spain , they advertise the apartments as ideal 1st homes for new buyers and young families, 'at a good price' ? One way of generating a good mix of communities and cultures and preventing the resort becoming a ghost town at certain parts of the year.
Will you take some photo's there's as nothing recent on the shared photo's and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms! Could you also find out if there is a tap on the two bed solarium- I cant remember reading about there being one although I'm sure there must be. We never thought to look when we were over, At one time there was a suggestion that the washingmachine would be up there so PW must have been planning a water supply up there. Anyway we are considering a soft tub (at the moment it is just one of many things we are considering!) but it also occurred that we'll need to hose down the roof solarium occassionally and especially if there's dust either from the building of El Foro or when they build across the golf course behind Jardines.

We are staying at La Torre at the moment for the 3rd time in 18 months. The first time we saw the resort, it was still a building site and the only facilities were golf course, club house, encina and supermarket. Bearing in mind, many people had already completed at this time. We have read the forums for La Torre and they have had similar problems over the last 18 months that we are starting to encounter now.
The town centre in La Torre has many units empty but everytime we come out we find something different. This time it was the Bamboo Restaurant with the beds outside round the swimming pool - absolutely brilliant
The facilities on ours will come eventually but it will take time. We have been told that there will be a temporary supermarket, bar and restaurant on site for when we do complete and all the sales we have spoken to seem to think that the town centre will be there but will take a 2-3 years to complete (not unlike La Torre).
Think we've just got to be patient and I'm sure that we will not be disappointed - it will just take time.

Think you are right Mike, this resort will be huge and we're only the 1st wave, so lots of development from when we get out there. We visited La Torre in March 2007 and also this February and its impressive and so clean, whilst I liked it I am also glad that Condado is generally more low level. But even so it was easy to see that there is such a good finish- I'm no golfer but could see that the course was beautifully laid out and the club house, restaurant and facilites are stylish. If we get anything like that standard Condado is going to be great- it will just take time. We'll also have Oasis above and beyond other facilities- for short breaks no car will be needed because everything is on the doorstep and of great quality. We've stayed at Mar Menor and walked around the various suburbs and the finish and attention to detail is great- again so clean too. Just got to be positive.
Ptan- thanks for the information about the tap- didnt fancy filling a soft tub (if we get one) with a bucket!! This message was last edited by JHMurcia on 4/8/2008.
