Hi Alan - Meet another Alan - my better 'arf - and myself, Dil. We're completing on No 18 next week and really excited about it. Welcome aboard.
The community appears to be shaping up a treat - full of very friendly people and I'm sure it will be great. We'll have the best of both worlds - living in a very Spanish town but able to communicate with fellow Brits, so no feelings of isolation.
Re TV - Nothing solid to impart. There are various threads already posted. I'm waiting for our agents, Parador, to reply to an email I sent on Friday. An earlier email I'd received from them, stated that we'd have a communal sat. dish on site, but no-one seems to have seen this yet, so I'm hoping they will have some info. I think a communal dish would be far better than everyone having a dish and making the place unsightly. We need to talk to a few experts though already living in the area I reckon with regards being able to pick up full UK progs.
When do you hope to complete? Lots of us have been waiting for over a year now, so there are likely to be some champagne (or should that be Cordonieu?) corks flying next week.
Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else - Welcome aboard.
Dil

Hi Barrie and Sandra, and Welcome to Alan 63..
I agree, it has been wonderful making all the lovely new friends on here..chatting about the development..and watching as each one completes on their property. It is hard to imagine how exciting those first moments must be.. when you get your key. and know the apt is yours.
We wish Dil and Alan..the very Best of luck..and a safe journey for tomorrow. And look forward to hearing all the details on their return.
We are off on May the 3rd to gain our NIE numbers..and it is possible.. that we might be able to complete as well. Which would be amazing.
But whatever happens. I hope we are all able to keep these friendships going..and know that Mirador is going to be a lovely place to live. With truly kind and friendly people for neighbours.
Best wishes to All.

I wasnt told that when I put my deposit down. Has anyone else had any dificulty or can you give me some pointers here because it has come as a bit of a shock.
Has anyone met Patrick from the Town?
I was told we might have to wait untill the committee is formed then we can deicide to put a satalite dish in. anyone know anything?

Hi Alan...Just a quick reply as we are actually off to spain tonight.
The problem with mortgages is universal at the moment. With the massive losses of money through inappropriate lending. Probably even worse in the Uk.
I know personally of a family member trying to get a mortgage for their daughter..with plenty of funds for a deposit...good financial standing..and excellent credit rating.... yet the mortgage has fallen trough twice.as the lenders aren't certain it is a save investment... the value of the property is rapidly dropping.
We actually got our mortgage approved...in principle..in spain first. Before putting our money down. we had a house still to sell. and we knew with the collpapse of Northern Rock...and the aftermath..things were going to be tough. We went through all the credit checks on us and our children. As we incorporated them into the purchase..to take over should anything happen to either of us..and to insure the lowest repayment.. As they could get a longer term for the mortgage.
It took at least a month for a preliminary offer to come through.and we reduced our purchase power considerably. When we appreciated the total costs.. including purchase..and mortgage fees... would total another 15% approx.of the sale price. Plus the significant drop of the pound against the euro..making everything more expensive.
We are now going through the same process all over again. At the time of completion. All the paperwork has to be checked a second time.. by the mortgage lender.. Three current months bank statements..payslips etc. to verify that your situation has not changed. It has to equal the status it was at the time of the original approval...or be better. In order to gain the mortgage.
it has taken so long this time..that we cannot sign contracts on this trip as planned. And need to return in a few weeks as the bank has not agreed to release the funds yet. All the license from the builders need to be registered first.
So it is a common occurrance today. Getting more and more difficult. and needing time to secure. I would check with a number of lenders both in the Uk and Spain..and submit details for a preliminary check.. to see if you are eligible. you can do this online..through any of their websites. Just google in spanish mortgages..or Uk. mortgages for Spain.
Hope this explains some things. And good luck. We are all curious what apt you have bought. Is it 63...as you sign 63??
Regards, Carol

Hello, Everyone. EoS has gone quiet, so just wandering how everyone's getting on on your respective bits of the planet...! I spoke to Nigel and Jo a couple of days ago. Carol and Danny were down at the pool taking photos, and a Belgium man called Jan has moved into no. 16. The weather's great and the pool in use! We're looking forward to being out at the end of May/beginning of June. Is anyone else thinking of going out at the same time? Best wishes, Donna

Hi Donna & Andy - We're still in the land of the living and can't wait to get back out to our very own pad on 2nd June. How long will you be out there for? Hoping we'll see you before you leave. Anyone else out there then too at that time?
In regular contact with Carol and Danny and can't wait to get all the news on their return. Hope it all works out o.k. for them.
We met Jan and his wife (16) when we completed a couple of weeks ago. Again, a lovely couple. He's not been well but we're all routing for him and wish him all the very best.
Keep in touch everyone.
Dil x

Get the champagne on ICE...it looks like June the 2nd is PARTY-TIME. Sandra and l fly out on the 29th May to Alicante (from Doncaster, there's an alternative airport for everyone, especially at £50 for the pair of us!!!!) and we will be out there til the 7th June. We hope to sign whilst there. We have notified our solicitor and parador that we are coming so hopefully they will arrange the transfer....CAN'T WAIT!!!!
Talking of flights....JET2 were offering from Leeds Bradford in September flights for 99P yes 99p plus taxes of course....thats a bargain!
Got to go speak soon to all of you

You think doing it in 11 days was bad? - Try doing it in 4 days !! LOL We're still getting over it!
Hope you have a fantastic time. We can't wait until 2nd June. If you get bored and want something to do, we've still got some flat-pack to put together!
Don't use up all the water in the pool - leave some for us!
Look forward to the pics on your return and safe trip.
Dil
PS Just seen Barrie and Sandra's posting too - wish you all the best on your holiday and really hope the completion goes according to plan. We should meet up with you early June. You really did manage good price flights for this time of the year - was that £50 inclusive of taxes? If so, I'm green!
Take care.
Dil

Hi All!
Thought we'd introduce ourselves as we are moving to Cox in July this year (see our thread about needing a place to rent!!) and are so excited to find this site and the fact that more English people are moving to the town! Up until finding all of you, we were aware of only a handful of English people (including Patrick Vine and his family who we met back in March when we visited) living in the town!
We have decided to make the big move away from the rain and escalating costs etc etc etc to find a better life in the sun for us and our two boys. We're buying one of the houses that are currently being built in the San Fernando area but it won't be ready for another 8-12months and are soo struggling to find somewhere to rent in the meantime. It seems that no-one rents in Cox!! And I guess from reading all of your messages and the fact that we've received no response to our thread 'we are looking to rent in Cox' that none of you are interested either?!! Do you have any other ideas for us?
Would love to meet up with you when we finally arrive in July (although it is only 6wks away, we have so much to do......haven't quite exchanged on our house in England yet and haven't got anyway to move to in Cox yet....am sure it will all fall into place at the last minute!)
Julia, Martin and our boys Michael and James

Hi to all,
Sadly it has all fallen through for me, I was trying to get a mortgage and although I was told by my agent that I would have no problem & after handing over a large cash deposit it was not forth comming.
I would have loved to be moving in now but thats life. I have taken action against the agents who did not pass my deposit on to the developer knowing it would all fall through anyway and have just heard from my solicitor that the agent has agreed to return the monies instead of a court case. So not all is lost.
Have a great time,
Al
