Hi folks - back in the land of the living. Had a very hectic and frantic and stressed-out week. How on earth could you have sailed through it so calmly Donna & Andy? I take my hat off to you. Actually, our stress was probably due to the fact that we only had barely 4 days to do everything and it really wasn't enough. We flew out on 22nd, completed on 23rd, snagging on 24th - got let down by a brit trader (read rogue!) from Torrevieja in the afternoon and at the same time had to fight to get a bidet moved in apt. which was unusable due to being put up against a wall and I had to demonstrate to three men how a lady uses a bidet and proved to them that it was impossible to use it up against a wall! LOL. Anyway, managed to get it moved after a fight. That same afternoon our furniture was safely delivered from the UK by Premier Movers who, once again, I praise to the hilt - brilliant company, excellent price and great men working for them (including the boss, Joe!). On 25th the furniture was delivered which was ordered back in March in Spain and they were brilliant too - even though the manager of the store tried to make us pay for the commission which they would have to pay due to us using a credit card (yet another fight and more stress - but another battle we managed to win) and ended up on 26th fighting for a refund with the rogue in Torrevieja for a refund of money - but that's another story which the permanent residents of our site will enjoy telling you about I'm sure! After all that, and all the unpacking and cleaning (yes, there's a lot of that to be done too) we returned home in the early hours of this morning, completely cream crackered but very happy and stress free!
We've met some of our neighbours and everyone is so friendly. Pete and Sue especailly have been first class - when we left, nearly all our bits were up on walls, all our lights fitted and lots of other things accomplished along the way. We made full use of Pete's expertise and kept him fully employed for best part of two days at least - would like to thank him and Sue for their patience, friendliness and expertise - Cheers.
The pool is now fully functional and as you'll see from the pics (when I can eventually upload - failing at the moment so will try again tomorrow) I managed a dangle on the edge - Would have taken a full dip, but didn't know which box I'd put my cosie in! And even though the neighbours were friendly, I don't think they'd have appreciated a not-so-skinny ageing dipper in their pool!
Everything looking great, including the flower beds and can't wait for a longer trip out. Hope Mahersol can sort out Carol and Danny's place now, asap. I know they'll love it too.
Great to see the forum buzzing. I'll go away more often! See you all soon I hope.
