Burglary reported today which occurred yesterday, Friday 16th May. The occupants of one of the Sunlit houses on the developmenb in La Alfoquia went out for the evening, to a friends just up the road, and when they returned the rejas had been forced and property including jewellery, cash and watches had been stolen.

They did own a yappy dog but this made no difference to the burglars.

As you all may remember this is the time of the year when we had a long running spate of burglaries where it seemed they had bee watching people going out for the evening.

I believe so .The rajas do not appear to deter them, they must have transport for break-in tools and to carry away your telly and hi-fi

La Alfoquia is near Arboleas about 3/4 of the way between Vera & Albox.

It is about 14 miles from Vera.

The feed-back that I get is that ,they target properties when owners and renters are in residence, then they get easy access to cash and electronic equipment etc that you might leave around .Please buy a safe and get it fastened down ,when you go out put your shutters down and items go in the safe.

The villas on this particular development are, (sad to say), ripe for burglary.

They have grounds around the villas where a car can back up, attach chains to the rejas's and drive away, thereby removing the bars. We were warned about this practice which is why we purchased an apartment not on  the ground floor. It is highly unlikely that burglars would employ this same system to gain access to any of our ground floor apartments due to the locality and neighbourhood, although remaining vigilant is always the better option.

The implementation of the owners/visitors badge scheme and the possibility of installing parking bay posts would seem to be needed sooner rather than later, as with the onset of the summer months, the influx of visitors will need to be closely monitored.

Without resorting to scaremonger tactics, cetain areas within the village of Alfoquai are currently undergoing policing problems. There are pockets of feuding youngsters and adults alike, (some sadly under the influence of illegal substances), who are involved in a power struggle, which in turn, has resulted in a crime wave. The police are trying hard to contain this and are being given the support of local neighbourhood watch schemes.

Let's hope that our town does not go down the same route.

It seems that there was another burglary on last Friday night, quite possibly the same team as hit La Alfoquia, this time in Llanos del Peral which is some 3 kms north of the Cucador, Zurgena.
Very few details known other than it was evening time and the property stolen included jewellery. A black saloon car was seen in the area no further details known.
