Just wanting some advice really. We are going to be completing 1st. July (Fantastic!!!) and we paid 50% deposit for our furniture, way back in January. I just spoke to the company, and they are asking that we pay the balance next week. Would that be the right thing to agree to? I have a very good feeling about the company; they have been most accommodating with all the delays, and they have been very professional. But I just wanted some input from the forum before I part with my many Euros. Best, Margo.

I am buying a furniture package from villapac. They want final payment 90 days in advance of installation. I am happy to do this. They are very accommodating. I am in block 8...I have put the installation date back numerous times.
I wouldn't be alramed with the comapny asking for final payment in advance.
regards

Hi Margo,
I am very surprised to hear that they have asked you for the total balance way before delivering the furniture. I bought some furniture in Malaga centre May 2007 and I have only paid 50%, the rest of the balance will be paid upon delivery. Who knows what I am going to get after more than 1 year!!! If I were you, I would leave a 10% to be paid the date of delivery.

i had to pay my furniture company in advance too, but i had no problems at all. i paid a good three months before completion. Actually, it was better as it was over and done with and didn't add to other expenses that mysteriously occur when you complete. There are always things you hadn't thought of that need paying for. I found i could not really argue given that they held it for me for 18months first.

For all the furniture we have bought from various shops we have only had to pay 10% deposit and the rest only days before delivery - in fact Imperial did not even ask us for a payment but you do sign to say that they will take the monies from your Credit card if you have not completed the purchase before delivery .
To pay 90 days before delivery is outrageous.
