Hi everyone,

Moving to spain in the next few months and I was thinking of Manilva or Alcaedisia(I think that is how you spell it).

Does anybody know of schools in these areas that have alot of english children in them ( state schools preferred) Private schools at a push I know already about international schools.

I have two children Age 9 and 6 and does anybody know how much a rental property costs for a three bedroomed.

Thanks Traci

We rent a 3 bed town house in Manilva town for 550 per month.  I think you could probably get something similar for 500 or even less now as rents have plummeted over the last year.

I wouldn't recommend Alcaidesa as it's a ghost town.  No-one and nothing there.  A few people I work with were renting there but all of them moved away after 6 months or so.

Sorry don't know anything about schools.

I can help you with the schools as I have eight year old twins in school in Manilva. There are three colegio publicos (state schools) in the Manilva area. One is in Manilva pueblo (village), one is in Sabinillas and the newest one which has a large percentage of English speaking children is Maicandil.  As for private schools there is a private spanish school in Estepona called San Jose which is quite hard to get into it as it is so popular with wealthy spanish families. The fees are about 500 euros per month each child. With regards to private international schools there are big schools like Sotogrande International School and there are numerous smaller private schools between Estepona and Marbella.

Hi Traci,

It's Alcaidesa.

I would be a little concerned about your proposed move. You, don't know what area you are moving too, nothing about schools, nothing about prices of property, have you thought this through and researched it enough.

Alternatively you could follow Richard Branson's "Screw It, Let's Do It" attitude. It's one of his favourite sayings and he also used it as the title for one of his books.( A great read by the way).

Good luck anyway.

At the risk of further annoying some members who may or may not be reading this & who seem to feel I post a lot of cr*p & belittle members & they have often expressed their feelings publically   (look at yourselves is my answer!) I've looked at Traci's other posts as I wanted more background & she said in this thread she started

My hubby might be getting a job in Gibraltar soon and we dont want to live there as I have heard is is very expensive. We would like to live near by so he does not have to travel to much.

Does anybody know of any where nice to live and also I have two children age 9 and 6 where are the good schools(state or private) for them to attend.

I would appreciate any feed back because I am getting quite concerned.

Maria de Castro suggested Alcaidesa to Traci.

Maybe Traci has no option but to make the move because of her husband's work.

Have a great weekend all of you!

Hi Traci,

Perhaps you should have posted the info on this thread that  more and your PM has informed us of, then we would have known your true circumstances. It did seem a little odd that with no knowledge of any thing in the area you where about to up roots....all is clear now.

Good luck, to you and your family.
