Mijas area water quality
The Comments |
Recently the water quality in Campo Mijas has been tested and classed as 'Unfit for human consumption'
The water contains unacceptable levels of Nitrates and also the Hardness level is too high.
Campo Mijas draws its water form wells also used by other urbanisations.
Has anyone else had this problem?
We strongly recommend everyone to have their water tested. It it a quick and simple process.
Reply to this and I'll post/reply with the details of the company we used.

Hi
The company is Bio9000 Tel 951311205
They are in Fuengirola just off the by-pass immediately opposite El Corte Ingles. The staff speak English.
They will give you a sterile bottle for your water sample. It costs €35 and the results are emailed to you within 48 hours.

What 35 euros for a empty water bottle and a quick test! OMG this sounds like a great money earner.
I am sure any problems will be well documented in the local press and/or on here.
Pardon my sceptisism. But, Please, Please THINK before parting with your hard earned dosh!

Hi, I live in Campo Mijas and there is a lot of speculation as to whether these reports are true or not

For anyone not sure about this here below is our water test result.
Our neighbours have similar results. I would rather be safe than sorry. You only have to look at the places in the garden where the water has left white powder deposits. Last night I emptied the ice compartment of the fridge and let it melt in the sink.
Photo below says it all.

Today (26/10/10) the Community Office issued a further warning that the water is still testing 'unfit for human consumption'
The nitrate level is too high and poses a threat to young babies and those with certain blood/oxygen problems.
The hardness level is likely to cause problems to those susceptible to kidney and bladder stones.
