Driving to murcia

Am planning to take car on ferry to Bilbao and then drive down to Terrazas de la torre. Have looked at Michelin route options, and it looks as though possible to do the drive in a day. Anyone else done this , any tips?

Hiya, should be depending on weather conditions. I drove starting not as far as Bilbao but from Burgos heading into Madrid and then on the ringroad around Madrid towards Alicante ending up about half an hour from your final destination and this was all within a days drive. The roads are good all the way with pleanty of places to stop for a rest. If you say around 2.5 hours from Bilbao to Madrid area, around 5 hours Madrid-Alicante, and then around 1 hour max down to Terrazas you could do it within 10 hours with a stop or two.

We did the route from Santander 2 years ago. Stopped only for short breaks and a sandwich. We got down to Calsaparra(where we live) in just over 8 hrs. Speed kept to 120 kph. Don't forget that the speed limit on the motorways from today has been reduced from 120 to 110 kph. We are going to do the reverse route sometime towards the middle of this month, and maybe stop off in Madrid.

We've found the Ferry and drive down much more enjoyable than a day being treated like a sheep at the airport ;-)
The drive down to where we are on the Mar Menor is about 1 hours shorter from Bilbao but Pont Aven only goes into Santander. That said, very shortly the newly refurbished Cap Finistere will be sailing inot Bilbao ;-)
