There is plenty on this site (below) about the removal of this dreaded blight. Here is the link:-
Simply Networking or this to help you

Two years ago I used Jonathen Pickles - he is fully aufait and very knowledgeble with roja weevil and knows all the regulations when dealing with a palm tree. He often writes gardening articules for the local papers. He is based in Murcia.
Good luck.

If you contact your local town hall I think they remove the palm free of charge.

Hiya Goldie - unfortunately not in the Murcia area - they ran out of money a few years ago. They will advise and organise a specialist who for me was more expensive then getting my own specialist. My costs were 250e and the counil wanted to charge 300e.

We have a similar problem, we read the article in Simple Networking and took our offending palm to Torre Pacheco to get it incinerated but when we got there the address given was not the incineration plant called Esvamed. We asked people in the adjoining businesses but nobody had heard of it. If anyone has any knowledge of where the incineration plant is, I would be grateful. In the meantime we have sprayed the palm and the others in our garden with Confidor to kill any bus that might be still around and have been advised by the gardener from our local Town Hall to spray them again in 3 weeks. Any lava that we found we put in neat Agua Fuerte which killed them straightaway.

It is a major problem in the Murcia region with thousands of palm trees being infected then eventually dying. I have spent 2 years trying to keep my palms free from infection and at the moment think I may be winning (fingers crossed) - I read everything I possibly can to further my knowledge. I am often caught looking up and staring at the palm leaves to check that they all look as they should Unfortunately I believe I am the only person in my villiage of 36 houses that is actively trying to conquer the red weevil. I am using a magnet bucket to attract and change the bucket sachets every 60 days I also spray 20litres into each tree every 60 days. Both products are by Econex and I buy them at the agricultural shop in El Algar. I try and keep to trimming the trees once a year during the cooler months and always spray with an insecticide afterwards. My magnet bucket generally kills approximately 50 - 75 weevils a month - obviously more in the warmer months - I know this isn't a lot bearing in mind each female weevil can lay 400 eggs at a time - but every little helps to save our palms. I also think that looking after our palms will be an ongoing mission - because I cannot see the weevil problem being eradicated in the forseeable future - probably not in my lifetime anyway.
I will make a note of the products that 'leothelion' used and maybe give them a try for a change - and if anyone else has any other suggestions - please add to the thread - as I am logging all the info I can.
