Hi
I have got a letter from Agencia Tributaria saying I have a traffic fine of 360€ !! It does tell me I can go on their website agenciatributaria dot gob dot es and "consultar sus deudas" but the page loads with an error report.
I have tried calling the two numbers on the letter but my Spanish is not up to the conversation and they have no English speakers.
Does anyone know how I can find out what the fine is for? when and where it was?
thanks
Sandra

Thanks I found myself on the list !
But what is a 009.1 offence? Also it says it was in July last year and they could not contact me at my previous address - which seems strange when they got this letter to me :)
I will try going to trafico ...... but how did you get your fine reduced???

You need to go to trafico and find out exactly what your infringement was and what was the original penalty.
In my case it was speeding and the fine was EUR300 which if I had paid on time would have been EUR150.
By the time they managed to track me down it had gone up 3 times and they claimed I had been notified via bolitin (who reads that)
Anyway you appeal and it goes back to square one and they then it's re-issued and the clock starts again.
The problem is all official forms are too small to accomodate addresses and that's even if you have an address that gets post delivered!!!!
So blame them for non delivery!
But you might find your insurance policy offer fines handling/appeals and that could save you hassle.
Good luck!!!!

Let us know how you get on.
Smile, stay calm and follow procedure .................
I have not looked up code but it could be a parking infringement which if paid on time would only have been EUR60 (discount of EUR120)
Becuase you did not pay on the original demand it goes up by a multiple of 3 (3 * EUR120).
Well that was my case .......... but I was prepared to do time before I would pay EUR900!!!!!!
I'm guessing if I had gone to prison Iwould have been sharing a cell with a lord mayor or town hall official - all on corruption charges!!!!
But being serious everyone should check the address on their car paperwork and if it's not 100% correct then go to traffico and make them amend to a proper clear postal address - most people don't really check their address details when they get back their papers etc

Hi
We went to Trafico today and the speeding fine was 100€ but when they contacted me to ask me who the driver was, I didnt answer - because I didnt get the letter!!!!
So they put it back through court and fined me for not telling them who the driver was grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Now I have tried to pay it online and the website says I cant do it online, I have to go to Trafico .............. I feel like I am going in circles :(

So how much are you going to pay?
Are you appealing like I did?
The online system does not work and don't waste your time on the phone. You have to go to the post office and pay in cash plus a tax/admin fee!!!!!

They have said we couldnt appeal because we hadnt updated an old address :(
So we have to pay the 360€
How much is an admin fee??? What if I pay it at Trafico is that cheaper?

My address was only half entered so I said YOUR fault
Of course they said back YOUR fault for not checking your papers!
Anyway they agreed to the appeal and the clock starting again and I paid the original penalty and claimed the 50% discount.
I would suggest you discuss with your insurance company as you might have a fines handling extra on your policy.
There was no way I was paying EUR900.
In fact everyone in the queue had the same problem - never received original fine - BIG question so how come the letter re 3 times the original had a correct address - so you obviously know my correct address - blank face!!!!!
and so went the argument ......

I think if I could argue in Spanish I would give it a try :)
We did try the insurance company but they said we should have paid an extra for that .....

This is when you find out if you have a good insurance company.
There are also gestorias who specialise in fine appeals.
Try http://vehicleregistration.es/welcome/
But call the mobile number rather than email.

Far better to stay off their radar altogether.

I agree!
No problem driving on UK plates.
I was worried when I went to trafico to re-register they would say "we've been waiting for you - here all your fines!!!!"
Becuase I'm sure I had a few ...............
Thank God for their inefficiency

hey dude, i longtime ago gathered we wuz kindred spirits.
i have a wealthy spanish businessman guru, he hates the system - understandably - his words of wisdom are do what you must do and pay the fines when you get caught - easier and cheaper.
