Spanish Tax Liability

My Spanish Tax advisor tells me when doing My annual return that the Spanish authorities will tax my State Pension received in UK without tax and not liable for it. I am a Spanish resident with all my income stemming from the UK nothing from Spain at all. This strikes me as grossly unfair and I wonder whether other ex-pats suffer from this? Seems reasonable to inform the Press and maybe the European Court. I have not seen it anywhere in articles about living in Spain. Exile

Hi Exile,
i am not sure of the answer to this question, but it does seem unfair.
If I were you, i would check with the Inland Revenue in the Uk as i think there is an agreement on double taxation within the Eu countries.
I am sure you DON'T pay tax twice.

You have to pay tax in one country or the other. It is up to you too choose.
I would pay mine to the country I'm living in, but that's only my humble opinion.

Thanks. Unfortunately you cannot choose one country or another. I do tax returns in both countries and don't mind that providing I get double taxation relief,. I have got a second opinion now and am told you don't have to pay this tax in Spain as I felt sure to be the case! Regards Exile
