Please don’t confuse things by using the wrong terminology., thats often what causes problems.
You said, “We have residencia." I am sorry you do not. Since April 2007 only non-Europeans can ad must apply for Residencia.
Europeans citizens must register on EU Citizen Register. You are On that Register I presume.

I now have my new little green card after 7 visits to Traffico. The last visit made my blood boil. I came across a jobsworth obviously near to retirement. I thought I had everything with me but when I gave him my old photocard which expired 4 years ago he went mad and yelled at me about how old it was. He then tried to insist that I went back to the city where it was issued 30 mins away. I explained that his companion hadn´t had a problem with this I had just forgotten my passport on this occasion. He then humphed and moaned but went on his computer and found he could indeed issue me certificates. He then asked if I was a pensionista, yes I replied and showed him my Tarjeta Sanitaria. Haha he said this is not good enough I need a certificate and showed me a German certificate, I explained that I was not German. Anyway he was very pleased to turn me away yet again. I was so mad I went home and actually found the initial forms from Newcastle. Took them straight back and he pretended that he could read them although not speaking a word of English. He then wanted a certificate from our bank but I had printed off a statement highlighting the pension payments which he did accept and BINGO the card was produced but he refused to return the certificate or give me a copy. By the way we have been here eight years.

Thanks Johnzx,
so sorry I upset you for using a wrong term. I didn't know. I also don't know whether we are on the register you 'presume' we are on. We may well be of course but as I do not know the ins and outs of residency status I can't comment. The question I posed was ignored in your response. Does anyone have or do you have any light to throw on the subject?

I live in Spain and have a residency card. However, I pay full UK tax on my pension, it cannot be paid tax free in Spain. If I go back to the UK am I entitled to free non emergency medical care.

If you live in Spain and are an EU citizen you have EU Citizen Registration (not Residencia, that is for non EU citizens only).
If you live in Spain then your worldwide income is taxable in Spain. There are variations depending on the Double Taxation Agreements which Spain has with various countries.
If you have income from UK, then with the exception of a Government Employee Pension (military, police etc) or income from rental property in UK, all your income is taxable only in Spain.
If you go to UK on holiday, and have a European Health card, issued by DWP UK, then you are entitled to emergency medical treatment in UK. Or other treatment which has been agreed by the UK and the Spanish Healthy Service. In effect, you only have emergency care.

UPDATE:
As of early October, the Valencian health authorities are cancelling SIP cards left riight and centre.
I know of several people that had their cards cancelled overnight. There seems to be no barriers, for example, 2 people have simply had "temporary" SIP cards cancelled that have been out of date and until October were getting treatment for ongoing conditions e.g High Blood Pressure.
More worrying is one person that has a full SIP card, is not currently working or claiming benefit, and has residency registration certificate that is the key document that new applications are requiring. I am convinced that this is not how the new law is supposed to work.
Anyone know anything on this one?

Have they ever worked in Spain or contributed to Spanish Social Security? If so, for how long, and when did they last work?

Well not sure 'key' is the word.
They must also have health cover and be able to show sufficient income. ( around 5,000 euros p.a.)

Yes, 2009-10, one full year as autonomo. 2008, 3 months as employee.
However, lets re-open the argument here 66d35. The way I interpret the new law is that ANYONE that is, as they directly quote "en situación legal", and to me that means they ARE on the registry and have a certificate, or other points we have discussed here, is entitled to free healthcare, working or not.

The story in Costa Blanca is unfolding by the hour, I will post more later. EVEN pensioners have had cards cancelled in Torrevieja. The more I read, the worse it gets.
