Maybe, Sandra, you should have put negatives of living on a community in Algorfa instead of Spain.. If you have a property not on a community, the mail will drop through your letterbox. It's only on communities, many of which have locked access, that the mail will be put in community boxes. Personally, the little walk doesn't bother me. In the 5 years we have been in this house, we've always got our mail whether originating in Spain or UK. And, not far from you where we live, the post office is open 8.30 to 13.30 daily including Saturdays. Hardly the one hour open to the public.
Driving? After having lived in Cyprus and France and visiting Italy quite often, I find the driving acceptable. Our problem are aging expats who have forgotten where the indicators are, don't bother checking mirrors (or get too many pains when liiking round) when the decide to reverse. The good thing here is that, although lots do tear the backside out of it, there aren't so many of them.
You are probably right about the bureaucracy although our local town hall goes out of its way to help. NIE from a previous council was a nightmare, but residency, padron and healthcard from this one was a doddle. Tax returns are done through a gestor rather than doing them ourselves. That, however, more to do with the unfamiliarity with the system and the financial language. I'm sure the Spanish find them quite simple but would probably struggle if trying to complete a UK self assessment form.
Price of booze? Bit like the smokers who blame the tobacco companies for selling the stuff. I'm quite happy with the price but do have the will power not to get stuck in during the day. That I can buy a very decent bottle of vino tinto at €1.50 is hardly a negative.

Someone else mentioned freezing houses in the winter. Have you done anything about it? Proper double glazing is a lot cheaper here and makes a vast difference. We paid just over 2000 euro for our 3 bed house and it's wonderful. Sitting around a gas fire is a waste. Get storage heaters or central heating. You would in UK so why suffer here? Badly built houses (and I admit many were thrown up) will have poor build quality and low insulation. Probably why the Spanish don't buy them. I don't for one second believe they sit huddled around an electric radiator huddled up in blankets like expats who pay a lot of money for a house do but won't spend the extra on improvements. I've seen them pay thousands for aircon and paving their patios but won't pay significantly less to actually improve their homes regarding heating and windows. Our double glazing, storage heaters, gas boiler and water purifying system cost less than what some people splash out on having their garden paved. If it's cold, do something about it. You would in UK.

"Maybe, Sandra, you should have put negatives of living on a community in Algorfa instead of Spain"

people only know what they know

one thing that annoys me about `my` spain is that in Sotogrande and Marbella they really mark up the price of champagne.

But i only know those areas so if someone asks me what annoys me about spain i can only relate tomy experiences.

so it will be localized mostly.
