I fly over 30 times a year and with the exception of inter continental usually use Ryanair because after doing exhaustive comparisons they are always the most efficient for me in terms of time and money. They recently withdrew one of the routes I regularly used from an airport a 45 minute drive away, it was a direct flight and always a good price. Because of this I now have either a 2 hour or 4 hour train journey (depending on which alternative airport I use) which is very expensive and costs more than the Ryanair flight used to cost and then a more expensive not always direct  flight. On 3 occasions the train has been delayed or cancelled and the flight has been missed causing more expense in time and money not to mention stress. So they don't offer business class but on a 2-3 hour flight who cares, I prefer to save my dosh to upgrade on long haul flights.

my problem with Ryanair is now that you have to print out your own boarding card as well as tickets, they don't give you enough time to do it. You can't print them out until 15 days before your journey so if you're away for 2 weeks you've got 1 day to print your return ticket. If you're away for longer you need access to a printer when you're on holiday.

Being cynical, I suspect this is a deliberate ploy to charge you the earth to print them out for you at the airport

Juankerr-The days of Ryanair flights costing less than a packet of"cancer sticks" are well and truly gone!

I don't mind following the rules but they are applied inconsistently; Those with bags rhat would obviously fit into the frame were stopped and tested, while those with large holdall type bags sailed through. I was made to put my unobtrusive bumbag in my hand luggage, while others passed through with hand luggage, handbag and a bag of food unchallenged.I did complain but was ignored. It's this type of thing that makes people mad!

@Camposol Re The days of Ryanair flights costing less than a packet of"cancer sticks" are well and truly gone!

No way! A packet..maybe...but a box (as I said|)...thats different! A box of 200 cigarettes in the UK is around £70 or €80. Ive just booked a return flight to Malaga in Sept from UK for £45 with RA. It costs me £80 to fill my car up in UK. Im full of admiration for RA and how they squeeze profit out of their operation. It just proves how many uncommercial minds there are out there.

Re your gripe - I understand that, however if your bag is as per their rules then even if you are measured (ooh er matron!) then you will be fine.Give them a break guys - just follow the rules.

Re the 15 day rule. Goodness how hard is it to find someone/where who can let you use their PC and print off? Thats the worst possible scenario too. If things like that bug you then dare I say you have a very stress free and simple life.

haydngj said 'Odd name Juan Kerr'

Really? Let's see...

Juan.....quite a common Spanish derivative of the English 'John'

Kerr.....According to British Surname . com, it is the 188th most common surname in the UK, with 6 people in every thousand sharing the surname.

Now, when I research haydngj, I am staggered to find there are none. Not even you! You don't exist! Officially you are a non-entity.

How does that feel?

My, admitedly unfortunate, name is a result of my English grandfather's liaison with a dusky chicken sexer (female - he could tell without checking) from the Granada region (not North West England TV - the Spanish one). Whilst fighting against Franco's mob in the 30s, he bumped into her (literally - a few times too - as it turned out 9 months later!) outside a poultry farm on a dusty path to Motril. She slaked his thirst (or at least took his mind off it more like) and the rest is history.

On returning back to England with her in tow, she soon realised that even on the sunniest days, Rhyl and surrounding areas was no contest for the costa tropical. This, and the encouragement given to my grandad by her 3 brothers, after they'd traced he to the North Wales coastal resort and given him the choice to either forgo her or his testicles, meant she was offski like a lookie-lookie man on seeing a guardia civil approaching.

My father, also Juan, had been born by then and he stayed with my father and worked in the family yurt factory (they eventually took off - about 60 years later). I, unfortunately, in the tradition of our family, took my dad's christian name too. Simple as that really.

So, haydngj, be careful in future with your glib throwaway comments. You opened up a wound for me there, as I cast my mind back to my grandmother whom I never met. A tear pricked my ear as I was forced to gaze at the only tattered photo we have of her.

Still, as a bonus, I've inherited her swarthy dusky looks, can also limewash a moderately sized pueblo town house externally in record time, and possess the uncanny ability to correctly sex any newly born chick from ten metres.

15 day rule............where I live there is no internet connection. Having asked before in here, it seems the nearest place that will print out tickets is down in Alcazares which is about 40 minutes away. However if you know any place in San Pedro or San Javier or Sucina please tell me. If you don't then your advice is useless

15 DAY PRINT TICKETS RULE Ryan Air

Agree about the complaints/comments about "Ryan Air" print tickets 15 Day Rule . Its just stupid and anyone should be able to print out and return journey in one session, Had to log on again to print return leg and if on two weeks trip must be a  nightmare . Has anyone and explanation for this policy which dosnt apply to flights on Jet 2 or Easy Jet ?

Well, when I last visited Riga March 20 - April 4 (16 days) I was able to print IN and OUT before leaving. It is flexible. Had I not been able to do so then even the smallest Latvian town would have a facility for printing it off, for about €1. All I need is the flight detail. As easy as ordering a cup of coffee; where is the problem? How many holiday exceed 16 days?

Same with the baggage, blushingly I confess to being at least a kilo overweight on a number of occasions. I also confess that when my barrel bag bulges the size is, er, flexible. I have never been bothered. In fact, I have always found the crew faultlessly obliging when stowing.

As I said in an earlier note, I cannot begin to understand this RA bashing. No airline is without fault - if you are over demanding or expecting Club Class. No one whinges about the others!. Why? I suppose everyone needs a whipping boy.

Sure, O’Leary is a very clever showman. Wasn’t Freddie Laker, who started this whole budget airline thing off? What about Richard Branson? Is he not a showman, an extrovert too?

O’Leary hardly needs to advertise; he does that free of charge by skilfully winding up the Press. If he ever stops then your fares will go up to compensate for his advertising.

Problem is, O’Leary runs rings around AENA, others, Dublin authorities, the EU. He humiliates them. He has made enemies and it shows. He is an Irish legend (and rebel). He made monkeys out of AENA - and he beat them (air bridges). Good luck to him. If you value the freedom of the skies over Europe vote O ‘Leary.

ref Mike Walsh.

Mike .In earlier post you can see I bigged up Ryan Air . Its not all about bashing them just wanted to know WHY you can NOT Print Off Both sets of boarding cards if the retrun journey is more than 15 days away . Its not surprising some forget the return journey and not everyones constantly sitting in front of a screen or wanting to find a remote InterNet cafe where they can gain access while abroad..  would be last thing on my mind .

Maybe just another marketing idea as you have to go thorough all the SELL SELL , insurance, priority booking, car Hire, routine.... again .  Clever but annoying and for no obvious reason. ?

I think internet cafés are as commonplace as newsagents, in my experience. I had a friendly estate agent in a small Latvian town run ours off.

I guess - and it is a guess - that with such an intensity of traffic it can be problematic to extend the service.

This is no place to bring up statistics but I think their operation is so big, computer-based and complex that it has to be run with an excess of cost-cutting efficiency. Thinking a month ahead must be a nightmare.

I think it was likely easier to run the British Empire than to manage goodness knows how many flights, passengers and designations every single day of the year. If things seem to run smoothly it is an illusion. I bet the RA screens are going ballistic like the Stock Exchange with delays, re-routes, missing baggage etc.

They never get credit where credit is due. I think we should start another thread. “What we admire about Ryan Air.”

I always find the threads about RA amusing ... and also somewhat frustrating.

I totally agree with JuanKerr's comments. People make their choices and book with whatever airline takes their fancy. I dont particularly relish the RA flights to and from Spain, but have found they provide the same budget based service as their competitors. At the end of the day, they always come up as the cheapest option for my OH and myself, we know what to expect (yes, we read the small print) and as such, don't get an additional charge to pay. Simples!!!!

There are 2 internet cafes in Sucina.

I have used them both, but never needed to print anything off, but I'm sure you could if you asked

Printing of boarding cards at post rooms, internet cafes etc should be no problem. Definitely a couple in San Pedro.
With BA you can only book in and print them off 24 hours in advance. With Vueling it is one week so the 15 days with Ryanair is a bit of a red herring. Even Virgin Atlantic was 24 hours before.
Ryanair doesn't always come up as the cheapest so it's best to look around. However, the places they fly from can be more convenient.
