So Mr. Sheldon Adelson the chairman of the US Las Vegas Sands group who were about to sign-up for the Eurovegas in Madrid has decided to pull out and go elsewhere because Spain will not agree to his terms.
The complex would have consisted of consisted of six casinos 12 holiday villages, with 3,000 hotel rooms each, and every village costing cost between 2,500 and 3,000 million dollars each. The complete project was to have been an 18 year rolling programme creating 240,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Spain has said that Mr. Adelsons demands, if granted would be in breach of EU rules! Now when has Spain, France or Portugal EVER given a monkey’s about EU law before today?
To be fair though, Spain does seem to have its share of theme parks that don’t get built:
2008 Gran Scale Zaragoza
2009 Nobody announced a theme park this year
2010 Ferrari Theme Park Valencia
2010 Holy Land Mallorca (This makes up for 2009)
2011 Penarroya Malaga
2012 Barcelona World
2013 Paramount Theme Park
2013 Eurovegas
The Paramount Murcia claims to be going ahead even though funds have yet to be put in place and planning approved. Reports further claim that contracts have been signed by operators and contractors…….. Seems Spain loves going down this rocky road!
