Enjoy your holiday home, tanstevo. You have a nice area and I hope you get as much pleasure out of it as we have. Our "holiday home" some 12 or so years ago turned out to be our permanent home (not the same property but the same area) which we had no idea we would do.

We aren't far from you in Quesada and, I must admit, it seems a totally different Spain from some of the posters on here. You have a good town hall (I assume it's Los Montesinos) as do we in Rojales. Helpful, up to date technology and keep everyone, of whatever nationality, up to date. Our local mayor even came on a "meet and greet" visit and pointed out areas that would need improving (must be an election coming up).

And, no, we certainly don't forget the rat race etc that we left behind.

Agree with bobaol - I hope you love Spain as much as I do and get many happy years.   Best bit of advice if you have not already done it -learn to  speak Spanish.   You are less likely to get sucked into regret if you can communicate properly - it is hard, but something I am really proud of, and have never regreted.

Very interesting figures.

Russians buying more Spanish properties than Germans and China buying more than the Dutch.  How the world economic order has changed.  I'm not really surprised about Russia as when I was looking for a front line beachside holiday apartment to rent last year almost all contact names were Russian.  The Chinese are buying up London and the Russian oligarths own many really expensive London properties.  How times have changed!
