Article from !murciatoday seems to say bye bye to Corvera.

With the resignation of Ramon Luis Valcarcel and the new president of Murcia, Alberto Garre, 'firing' those who were promoting Corvera Airport does this now mean this is the final nail in the coffin? We are still awaiting the decision from Brussels as to the legality of the 'loan' from public funds (the ratepayers of Murcia) which will most likely not go in Corveras favour.
San Javier airport will stay open and does not even have enough passengers to make a profit. So how can 2 airports survive when there is not enough traffic for one?
Will any heads roll? We all doubt it. Why won't those who promoted this waste of money ever be bought to task? Its just another case when we say viva espana.

It is inconceivable that such incompetence exists and is allowed to continue in Spain. Three unwanted and unnecessary airports lie unused at a loss of almost e3.5bn and rising monthly.
Corvera - Murcia e 850 million
Castelon - Valencia e 1.1 billion
Cuidad Real - Madrid e1.4 billion
Massive unemployment and an obscene number of homeless people......... are Spanish politicians that thick and arrogant that they believe they are right or is there a hidden agenda here?

Woodbug - good answer
Maybe we should be asking the question who votes for these policticans and why?
Maybe it is the voters who are thick!!!
As in the UK people probably do not vote for arrogant politcians but more for the party or the party leader (or how friends and family vote)

Well to be fair aliton it may be reasonable to consider any voter, irrespective of nationality thick when you look at the bunch of simpering, spineless, unemployables that the UK voters elected to power.

On another forum recently someone made enquirires about possible locations for drag-racing strips in Spain... 3 come to mind immediately... all out of the way so as not to annoy the neighbours...

Everybody is forgetting why theses airports were built, the Spanish politicians like the rest of us were convinced that Spain was so good that everyone in the world would like to come and buy not one holiday home in Spain but two each then came the reality check the credit crunch and the fact that not everybody in the world wanted to holiday in Spain so what we are left with is not just unused airports but enough empty unsold properties to house all the homeless people in the world twice over .
