The statement below is on a local Estate Agents internet blurb. How mis-leading is this? We all know that the Paramount is as good as doomed and to say that the land has been purchased and construction is expected soon is a complete untruth. Opening in 2015? Yeh right! This folly is a politcally motivated vision with no investors remotely interested. Paramout is just a name - they have sold off all their leisure parks and this scheme has nothing to do with Paramount entertainment. It is claimed that the EU has 'given' 17million Euro to start the park - the total cost of which is well in excess of 3bn Euro............. and planning permission is expected in July!

Like the other 9 theme parks that have been announced over the last 10 years in Spain the planning and funding is back to front, so will it ever operate?  The other nine didn't make it! Murcia was promised a new airport to serve this attraction, an uprated cruise ship terminal at Cartagena, a Hi-Speed train Murcia-Madrid and of course this amazing theme park - where are they?

STOP PRESS: Signing for the future Paramount Theme Park in Murcia has been completed (25.3.12). The land has been purchased and construction is expected to take place soon with completion scheduled for late 2015. Prices will not increase immediately, but for those looking to invest, now would be a good time.

Thirteen years ago the estate agent promise was for a Disney Park in that area. Scratch 1.

There is a new airport. It's just that no planes use it. Scratch 2.

The cruise terminal at Cartagena, like the one at Alicante, was vetoed by the cruise lines as the shops don't open in the afternoons. Scratch 3.

Paramount? I think that's a Scratch 4 already.

High Speed train link? I thought the Altaria Murcia-Madrid link was already open?  Along with the recently opened Alicante-Murcia link?  Maybe not a Scratch 5.

Mind you, UK was going to be the site of EuroDisney, the HS1 through Kent is often LS1 and as for HS2, huh!

I do think that estate agents blurb is rather misleading, though, if not downright lying.

Murcia has seen it's fair share of Cowboys in the property sector from the council to the 'real' estate agents who have all had their noses in the trough for a long time - where is the Cavalry when it is needed?

Trouble is, the corruption is so embedded in the country, it is almost accepted as the norm!

I read recently that one local official, who is allegedly being reprimanded for bestowing favouritism, that "this method is time tested."

This just shows how deep this filthy practice goes. Standard stuff, don´t you know?? Nothing wrong there!!

These people must be shown that there is another way. They are shysters and crooks of the lowest kind.

Corruption in local government is of course an important topic for discussion, but the misleading claims of estate agents are usually confined to ex pat agents selling to ex pats - as far as I can see.

I would have thought most people have the intelligence or experience to ignore anything an estate agent says or writes especially in Spain.

They are simply sellers dedicated to emptying your pockets for very high rewards. Like spam, delete from your mind their entire spiel and you won't go wrong.

actually the estate agents who found what we were looking for and guided us through the buying process were really good.

They were a small operation but knew their stuff

Yes they might have mentioned Corvera but finding somewhere we liked was what they did

and they made a sale !

As you may know, may Westerns were actually made near the Mazzaron/Almera areas so thats where you should head for to see the real cowboys......

http://www.unique-almeria.com/mini-hollywood.html

Or you could sit around in bars witing for the estate agent cowboys to come in and spin you a yarn.

I think this project has received 18 million euros from the EU,

A lot more than that is needed but presumably they will get going now?

I met a guy last Saturday who was told by an estate agent last week that Covera was opening during the last week of September for a 6 month test period by which time it would have all it's licenses in place to operate full time!

So there you have it - the truth at last.

I heard something similar but as it is still a military area and they are all trying to shoot down the flying pigs! I heard it will take many years before all the flying pigs have been got rid of.

Any wally in his bedroom can create a web site about anything. It means nothing. In the real world on the ground nothing has changed. Covera airport or fantasy theme parks, it's all my eye and peggy martin.

Property in Spain and elsewhere continues to fall in value no matter how hard anyone tries to hype it up. The Eurozone remains in trouble because the fundamentals have not been addressed. Life goes on for most of us as normal just ignore the cobblers those with a vested interest have.

The whole point is mcfc - there is no Paramount to promote and likely never will be, so agents who 'promote' phantom projects in order to sell houses are hardly the most reliable people to deal with. Why should you have to 'cut through the crap' when trusting a so-called professional with your money and future? Would you expect to have to cut through the crap with a lawyer, a doctor or a vet?
