According to Sky News Brits can claim dole money in Spain just as easy as the Spanish can clame the dole in the UK.

Isn't this only payable if a person has been claiming these benefits for a minimum of 3 months in the UK before it's transferred via the Spanish system...

And considering that to get the dole money and job seekers allowance you have to be available for work kinda reinforces the fact that the UK benefits system, in favour of the work shy is worse then broken.

Still I suppose it could help the Spanish holiday season a fair bit when the scroungers find this out and book the "Extra" extended fortnight in Spain.

You can claim contribution based job seekers allowance in Spain and a Spaniard can claim the equivalent in UK. The country of origin pays it. So, if you are looking for a job in Spain you get it for up to 3 months from UK and if a Spaniard is looking for work in UK they can get unemployment benefit from Spain or whatever the equivalent is. Twas ever thus.

However, a Brit claiming from Spain would be unable to do so unless they had worked and paid social security in Spain. A Spaniard moving to UK will not be able to claim benefits from UK but may be entitled to schooling for their children and NHS treatment.

I know a few Spaniards who lived in the UK for a few months - not sure if it was 3 or 6 months before they were able to claim benefits including Local Housing Allowance. They had never worked in the UK. Luckily, they both now have jobs though, as it was never their dream to come here and live on the dole.

Foreign Pension undeclared in Spain during the voluntary period in non prescribed years can be regularized without penalty, interest or penalties from January to end of June 2015.  Surcharges, interest and penalties imposed by late submitting will also be not imposed

Pension related taxes paid prior to the entry into force of the Act in which this measure is contained, all surcharges (including those of the enforcement period), interests and penalties arising from such regularization will be exempted, provided the enforcement is still no firm.

If  enforcement is now firm, devolution can be requested from the Treasure till end of June 2015. Amounts paid shall be refunded, without payment of delay interest, within six months from the filing of the claim.

After that time, if no refund has been made the corresponding delay interest shall be paid.
