We are in the process of selling our villa . It was built in 2003 , though some had pools built by the builders , most added them after they moved in , which we did . It has now come to our attention that we need permission , I'm not sure if it was granted or not as it's so long ago . Would anyone know how we could find out . Woukd it be logged with our solicitor. We have used then ever since the purchase . They are saying we would of needed to apply to the community, as there was one originally , though there isn't one now . As far as we are concerned , there has never been one . We have never paid a community charge and there are no shared areas .

I sold a villa back last year the villa was completely legal ..but the pool that was installed by the same builders that built the villa did not apply for planning permission so it wasn't on the Escutura ...so I had to have a survey / architect to inspect the pool and apply for it to be added to the original Escutura it cost €1,500 for this service...your pool should be on your Escutura .

Thanks fir the reply Windtalker . I was wondering , you mentioned the escutura is this the deeds ? If so woukd they be held by the bank we have a mortgage with or our solicitor, who has had power of attorney ever since we first bought the villa

Your bank will have the deeds/Escutura ... your solicitor can get the information off the Escutura .

Leicsguy, the local Town Hall planning department can confirm if you have a pool licence or not - you can employ a local gestor to do the job for you, if you prefer to avoid the hassle - they shouldn't charge much.
From the details you've given you'll probably join the very large number of folk who fall into this category with an unlicensed pool. It's easily done - needing a license is a closely guarded secret . Solicitors never ask you and contractors never tell you.

Hello acer, sorry it’s me again.
‘’needing a license is a closely guarded secret’’
Are there any other items that you know of that we need a license for, like, a dog kennel, a barbeque, a garden shed, garden gnomes, security grills, a letterbox, a doorbell?

Hello Kavanagh, don't apologise, somehow EOS wouldn't be complete without a chap like yourself.
In response to your curious question - possibly the shed might well require planning permission. Like a lot of stuff here, it's a matter of interpretation. One man's shed is another's gazebo, summer house etc
