Snagging Inspections
The Comments |
Hi,
We will hopefully be completing on our property soon and I was wondering if anyone had information regarding Life insurance. Is this something that the banks automatically offer (Like in the UK) when you take their mortgage or should we be searching independently. I don't really know where to begin. I have only tried contacting the company we use for our UK property but they do not offer insurance for overseas.
Any ideas? I am stuck!!
Thanks
Elaine & Jock.

Some banks insist on it if you take their mortgage here in Spain - your broker should know and advise youof this. Our resident mortgage advisor Smiley is more of an expert than I BUT you are problably not best advised to take one here in Spain but one in the UK if you want one - main reason is for inheritance tax purposes - speak to your broker or call/ email Smiley patrick@marbellamortgages.com

Rixxy,
Thanks for this, I will send Smiley a wee email.
I think I will need to read up on Inheritance tax as well.

Yes - I leanrt from a case he was dealing with for me - here in Spain to adjust things after something is in place is very expensive and in some cases cant be done - inheritance tax is payable on life cover here and not in the uk (as I understand it) as is the transfer of the property for one spouse to the other in the event of death, so getting finance is better than buying cash and all sorts of other important issues best to be planned in advance!
good luck with it
