Blimey, Debs, you kept that under wraps.
Did you sell up ?
So why have we all been having such a detailed & emotive discussion when you were shifting out anyway ?

Hey Debs, I trust you did the responsible thing, and checked to make sure your buyers are not animal owners, before accepting the asking price?
Congratulations.

oooo, not so sure, i think dogs rule for me, but each to his/her own!!. I've had both. If want a clean living independent pet, i'll get a cat.
If i want a pet, a loyal companion, and protector, i'll get a dog!. If my daughter had her own way, we would have about 3 of each!!.
When growing up, as well as cats, we had working labradors. Nothing comes close for me, if trained from a young age. I have no time for aggressive or badly trained dogs..........or cats that kill small birds in my garden!!
debwal
so, a happy ending then. Well done for selling so quickly. Just shows, despite all the problems, places in the right locations will still sell ok, even at the price you want!

Yes, tend to agree re: cats v dogs. (First time we've agreed on anything, perhaps?!)
I realise he is the exception to the rule, but my dumb moggie actually walks past crash-landed swallows in our garden in the summer (we get a lot, presumably exhausted after crossing from Africa on their way to cooler latitudes) and leaves me to pick them up, bring them home and place them in the shade on our terrace, where he continues to ignore them. This gives them a chance to recover their strength without the danger of other cats mauling them for their own amusement. He also ignores ladybirds that land on him, lizards that are favourite game for the other cats, and actually ran away terrified from a rat that bumped into him once in the garden.
But he was easy to train to use a litter, comes to the sound of my call (sometimes) and is currently working with me on the "sit" command

sounds like a nice moggie to me. I could have one like that. I can see why people have cats. When we had one, holidays and breaks were easy with a cat, but we always a bit of bother getting our dogs looked after. I so much miss having a dog though. Just not fair as we go away quite alot and all out all day.
One Labrador in particular used to work all day on the shoot, in and out of brambles, running almost non stop, (a real tough guy) then on the way home, would sit next to me in the land rover with his head on my shoulder, like a big softee.
(my father was a gamekeeper).
I'll shut up now, gone way of thread again!!

HI EVERYONE,
WE ARE NICELY SETTLED INTO OUR NEW ABODE NOW AND THE CATS, ROSIE AND ARTHUR, ARE ENJOYING THE PLEASURES OF OUTDOOR LIFE. CANNOT SAY THE SAME FOR THE POOR LIZARDS THAT THEY KEEP BRINGING ME. ONE OF MY CATS RAN UNDER THE BED WITH A POOR LIZARD IN HIS MOUTH YESTERDAY AND HAVE FOUND SEVERALMORE OF THEM IN THE HOUSE, MINUS THEIR TAILS, BUT HAVE MANAGED TO PLUCK UP THE COURAGE TO PICK THEM UP(DUSTPAN AND BRUSH OF COURSE), AND TO SAVE AND RELEASE THEM AGAIN.
ANYWAY MUST GO, A SWIMMING POOL TO MYSELF AND A GIN AND TONIC AWAITS ME. NOW THIS IS WHAT I CAME TO LIVE HERE FOR,
DEB

Hi Deb
Glad to hear that you have settled in well along with the cats. Hope that you are not on an urbanisation or that if you are the President and owners are more cat friendly than the last!

Don't worry about the lizards, their tails grow back!
Now the summer weather is here, my cat has taken to spending most of the day lazing in the communal gardens - but get this - he comes home briefly during the afternoon.....to use his litter tray, then buggers off out again! How community minded is that?
I have to say, it's not very environmentally friendly, because we have to bag his business up in plastic bags to throw away, whereas if he just buried it in the garden like any normal cat, it would fertilize the plants and be naturally recycled.
I think he has learning difficulties. This message was last edited by Roberto on 6/15/2008.
