The DIY satellite kits in Brico House / Aki etc, use a 80cm dish and free to air receiver, I have seen one box with ITV BBC Channel 4 printed on it. It is highly unlikely that you will get any UK based programs on this type of kit so don't waste your money.
The kit will pick up Astra 1 collection of satellites on 19.2 degree east of south, you can get 100's of tv and radio programmes but unless you understand, spanish, german, french or arabic, they are not a lot of use. You can get BBC WORLD news, CNN, SKY NEWS and Ajazeera english news, but that about it.
Now to get uk tv for free once you have the kit.
I live just south of Alicante in the poor signal zone for Astra 2 on 28.2 east of south that SKY and BBC/ITV FREESAT use. I have a 1.9 prime focus dish, a MTI LNB and a Pace 2600 sky box from the uk with a sky freesat £20 card (A FTA receiver will do with one or two less channels), we get all normal uk bbc/itv programs except for bbc 2 which we only get at night, we also get a large number of film and other channels, much more than the free to view back in the uk. We also get a large number of radio channels including all bbc.
We are from the midlands in the uk, we even get Central news from Birmingham and BBC west midlands news so that we can keep up on the doom and gloom in Blighty
