Hi everyone

Has anyone moved to any of these areas Benimar, Benijofar and Rojales. Are there any jobs available for english people and do they have infant and senior schools nearby that help english children settle in. My children are 14 and 7.

Thanks for any advice you may have

That was the plan as i had a job to go to, but that has fell through so i thought it might be an idea to broaden my search slightly. Not sure if this is the right think to do so was thought i would ask some advise on these areas first.

sorry for the confusion but i want to get it right first time. hopefully

Certainly there's a lot going on in the Benimar / Benijofar / Rojales areas, do you know anything about this area at all ? It's not far from us, 10 mins drive & we go a lot. Benijofar is a small Spanish town & is walking distance from Rojales, another Spanish town but much larger. Benimar is an area that is between the two & built up around new developments. It has lots of bars & restaurants etc & overflows to Benijofar a few mins walk away & to Rojales in the opposite direction. You also have Formentera, a small Spanish town in the close vicinity too. Benijofar has a tiny market as does Formentera, a few stalls only but Rojales has a great market on a Thursday.

Regarding schools I don't know as we are too old for worrying about all of that. If these areas don't have adequate schools then I'd worry, there's lots going on & if you could find a job i think you would ike the area. Algorfa is well liked too, see here for more info ALGORFA There's a forum in there too that has RENTALS on, I've just told another person.

See this map, you can see the cluster of Rojales, Benijofar, Algorfa & Formentera. We're Guardamar on the coast.

Tony, there's a nice Chinese in every town, likely two or three or more. Anyway, which town, which Chinese ?

I don't think decorated lady is going to move to a town that has a "Nice chinese there" somehow without work etc.

This post belongs to the following thread: Ok... I have a list of areas!!

I currently work as a hotel receptionist. I don't speak Spanish but i have been learning basics. I am hoping to be able to pick it up by immersing myself in the spanish community and having to learn to speak it. I am a qualified word and text processer though not sure where that will help me unless i look for work with English families that have set up their own business. I also have experience working in a tattoo studio and at present i am learning to do body piercing so i have another skill i can hopefully use to make money. | am however not afraid to do any sort of job to be able to support my children and myself.

I am a hotel receptionist. I was thinking about starting some sort of childminding/babysitting service. Any idea if there is a need for this sort of thing in these areas. Maybe offering to do cleaning as well. sort of an all round service. I am willing to do any sort of job as long as it is regular work as i have 2 children to support.

I was looking into tattoo studios in the Los Alcazares region that i could maybe do body piercing in as i helped out in a tattoo studio for a year a couple of days a week as well as my paid receptionist job.but talking things over with other people makes you realise that you have to have lots of ideas for work to bring in the money so i have started to make a list of things i can do that i could try over in Spain. By doing this i have begun to realise there is a lot of different skills i actually have that i can use to make this move successful.

Hi

You sound like a hard working person,  i remember a friend of mine who lives in Guardamar saying that there was a shortage of good childminders in the area . but that was about 2 years ago and things have changed a little,  maybe you should go over and spend a little time there,    you will soon get talking to people then you can get a true reading of the area.

Good luck   Alb

Hi Decorated Lady

I hate to pour water on your fire, but there are an awful lot of English people in this area looking for work. I would imagine that you'd need to be registered to do child-minding and you are only likely to attract English customers unless you are fluent in Spanish and even then, you're unlikely to get Spanish customers as they have the support of families.

Cleaning: yes, you and absolutely LOADS of other English people are either doing this or want to do it.

In my opinion, if you come out here to live, then you should come out with enough money to keep yourselves for a year. That will give you time to look around. Even better: find a job before you come out. Don't expect high earnings either.

We're fortunate in that when we move out there, we won't have to work (being oldies) but I would be very wary about moving out if I had to find work.

Having said all that, my very best wishes. I hope it works out!

Irene

Hi my kids are 13 12 and 6 and go t the schools in Rojales.  I have found them to be fantastic .  They also go to lots of outside clubs which is a huge help when you fisrt move over.  There is a dance class that the girls go to and my little boy has just started at the boys breakdance! He also goes to football twice  a week which is brilliant.  This will help you to make friends also.  Anything else I can help you with dont hesitate to ask
