Whilst I, too, enjoyed reading Jane's post (couldn't find it on your website www.lastortugas.net , Jane, do you also have a blog ?) I see the B&B is actually up for sale ! So likely no further instalments.
Looks fantastic. 650,000€.

Thanks both for your kind words. I was a copywriter in another life, many years ago. Now I just do it for pleasure but I have had the odd article published.
Am working on few more stories - unfortunately the building ones do not all have happy endings (yet) so not necessarily suitable for this thread!

Don't know why you couldn't get onto website - just tried myself and no problem. maybe I should have put the http before the www or when you click it does not link? I'm a bit of a technophobe so quite possible. Strike that, I am a hopeless technophobe. Which is probably why I don't have a blog - anyone know how on earth do I go about setting one up?
No need to worry yet about withdrawal symptoms re the stories: Las Tortugas was supposed to be a 'small renovation project' to keep the other half out of mischief while we built the dream house. Not hard to see from pic that this was a small project on the scale of the Millennium Dome... Anyway the five years it took were not wasted as - guess what - the dream house is still not quite finished! So Las Tortugas is on the market in a quiet sort of way - we could move if we had to but prefer to stay put until pool etc ready - and we are carrying on with B&B here at least into the summer. When we move there will no doubt be yet more stories as Finca la Serenidad has a guest wing with 2 beds/baths and guest sitting room specially for B&Bs.

"I was a copywriter in another life"
Yes Jane and it shows in the superior (for EOS) standard of your English/grammar. Your post was a most enjoyable read and without the distractions of mis-typed, mis-spelt and mis-punctuated text which at times renders the posts unintelligible.
I briefly visited your website and will return when I have more time to sit and enjoy it. 'Las Tortugas' truly is most people’s dream of a 'Villa in Spain' and not one of the boxes being mass built and passed off as such.
Regards,
Sandra

Hi Jane , it looks a really lovely B and B, I could see that would attract a lot of custom. I also like reading your little stories they are very interesting and you certainly have a way with words. Have you ever considered a book? You could write one about your life in Spain all the ups and downs. Which I expect has been many. Pat

Wow folks, I am bowled over by response to my little story! Thank you all.
The answer to the book question is, yes, it has been in the making for 7 years now but I always get disheartened when I read the Chris Stewarts and Carol Drinkwaters of this world. They seem to meet so many more outrageous characters than we do and so have much more material to work with. They also write so well - particularly Carol who (in my humble opinion) is several cuts above all the New Life Abroad writers. So far all I have is a computer full of notes out of which I have cobbled together a few anecdotes amid the trials and tribulations of building and renovating, with no real thread running through. Maybe when we only have one house to worry about I will get down to it properly, and hopefully see it all more clearly in retrospect. 'Him outdoors' usually refers to The Book as The Unfinished Jumper because I am notorious for those too!
Watch this space!
Jane

Hi Jane
Only just read this (thanks to the last post bringing it back to the top) I think we were in Spain when you posted your story. It's a lovely story and I hope you find the time to complete your book. I know how difficult it is to get the structure right, seems so simple when you read someone elses.
If you really want to do a blog have a look at BlogSpot which I use (you could have a look at mine to see what a complete novice can do). I love writing on both my blogs and see it as a complete diary for myself and a way for y friends and family to keep up with what is happening. the relocatetospain blog was originally sorted by my brother but I did the puppy one myself. It just takes a bit of playing about with to get the design right, but it's all done from templates and loading photos is easy.
If you get stuck pm me and I'll try to help.

One of my best Spanish experiences was visiting Malaga for the Easter processions - it was absolutely amazing.

Hi this is my first time on this forum and so nice to hear some positive comments about living in spain!!!!!!!!!!! We are in the process of selling up here in rainy cold England and moving out to Murcia A.S.A.P after holidaying there for the last five years. We will be renting at first preferably in the Los alcazarez / Santiago del Ribeira areas.. Myself my partner , three daughters and two dogs are so excited about the move and after much research (5 years worth) have decided that it will probably be the best thing we couild possibly do. I feel much better after reading all your happy stories after hearing a lot of negative on other Forums, I undeerstand it's not a Utopia but in my eyes it comes pretty damn close.!!!!!! Does anyone have any experience of the International school on Polaris World????????? Thanks
.

Hi jbirdy,
Love Los Alcazares so much! However to get more for our money we bought in Roldan beside La Torre. Lots of English children at local school and they enjoy freedom playing out together. There is a cafe and park area-wonderful! The villas are lovely.
We had an interview at Kings college for our 10 year old and think the school is great. As you know they provide transport from all around. Have you looked up their website?
Our son has opted to attend the local school with the friends he has already as we spent the Summer there. They go back 1 year to help them integrate and learn Spanish.
Keep in touch.
Best wishes

Hi Dave, thanks for your reply, we have looked at Roldan but not a lot rental wise around that area!! My daughters are 9, 12, and 15 so we were looking at kings for the eldest as the transition will be hardest for her. The other two are quite happy to go to spanish schools and already know a little spanish so that will help!! Can't wait to get out there but it all rests on the sale of our house here in England which is proving difficult with the current financial climate. But we WILL get there !!!!!

King's College in Murcia is a new school and has not, as yet, reached the age group that your 15 year old daughter would join. We checked them out last year and understood that they were having their first senior year in 2008-09. We do not know of any other English language schools that would cater for the age group that you would require.
