sorry i didnt mean to sound rude
we are looking to move from leeds to spain in around 18 months and was interested to know where other people had moved from in the uk and how long they have lived in spain.
i am trying to find out what people think of it and whether it is a good idea
im not very good with words and dont always get across what i mean
once again im sorry if i seemed rude and will try explain things a bit better

Sadly I can't help you because we haven't yet managed to free ourselves of our UK house (us and half the UK population).
I would recommend that you get in touch with Twinmummy. We met her and her family. She's in Formentera del Segura and has twins. She's experiencing both the good and the bad and I'm sure, as she's in a similar situation to yourself - ie. young children - that her experience will help no end.

Hi Grumps,
Been here in Albatera just south of Alicante for nearly two years now, we moved from Bromsgrove in Worcestershire.
We both love it here, Albatera is in a bit of old Spain, nice, quiet and tranquil.
We are both early retiree's and we have no mortgage so it was easier for us to set up over here.
Will we ever go back? well, you can never say never but the intention is not to but you don't know what life holds around the corner, do you.

I am origionally from Sheffield and my husband was born in Chelmsford. We came from Melton Mowbray to live here nearly six years ago.
Whatever you do, do loads of research ( you can learn a lot on this forum ), try to learn some Spanish and take a realistic look at your finances. When you've done all that..................come on over and live the dream.
Ask as many questions as you want, someone will 'pop' up and try to answer for you.

Hi,
I live in Mojacar, which is in the Costa de Almeria are, or as I tell people the bottom right hand corner of Spain. I moved here from Harrogate over 2 years ago and moved here because I got head hunted, I have lived in Switzerland and Hong Kong in the past and feel that I would never move again.
I know it seems sad but the only thing I really miss is fish and chips from billy murgs, my first stop always after leaving LBA, and the green fields of Nidderdale, but apart from that I really can't see myself going back, we both have jobs that we love, enjoy the weather and people and the beach at the bottom of our road, and the feeling that our area is still very Spanish.
