Potential electrical / teaching work in Spain

 

Hi everyone,

Can we firstly introduce ourselves, Kevin and Debbie Cooper, we have just completed on the 2^nd June the purchase of our ground floor apartment at Veranda. Our apartment is situated on the end corner plot opposite the entrance to the pool. We spent last week out there getting the apartment ready and would like to let everybody know how pleased we are with the property. The whole process has been very straight forward. Thanks to Adene at Aldea Advisors and Eva at Banco Popular, who have been very helpful. We would like to thank Dave and Anita Baxter who are going to look after our apartment whilst we are in the uk. They were on hand last week to help us get the apartment ready, fitting of shower screens bathroom accessories and light fittings.

The complex is just about finished, there is water in pool but it’s still awaiting its licence. The spa area has been fully cleaned but is not yet opened. As for the rest of the complex a few more days of sweeping and power washing should finish the job.

I have just about finished a web site for our apartment, due to this being my first posting i can't let you know the full web address (apartment-in-veranda.c)   but I will let you all know when I have posted it on the net. We have just booked flights to go back in October and my wife is hoping to go for a week in August with the children.

Hi Kevin and Debbie, and many congratulations on your purchase on Veranda, and welcome to the forum. We had our courtesy visit in May and were very pleased with the complex, and are now looking forward to visiting and staying in our own place the last week in August. 
We hope to complete in mid July. Glad to hear Dave and Anita were around to help with all those little extras, we will be calling them ourselves when we complete, we met them in May as they were keyholders for the lady we rented from on Thalassa, they are a lovely couple and offer a great service.
As I said, we have booked flights for the last week in August myself and Anto and our son Ciaran aged 10 will be out, and we are heading out again in October with some family members so really looking forward to it.

Congratulatioins Kevin & Debbie - would you please advise of Dave & Anitas contact details as we would like some help with putting up bathroom fittings etc - we have not completed as yet but are expecting to in the next few weeks.

Welcome to the Forum Kevin & Debbie.  Great to hear all went well on your recent visit and completion. We were also verypleased when we did our courtedy visit in May.   We are Pauline & Noel, buying on the 4th floor block 5 and are hoping to complete early July (maybe around 4th/5th) then I plan to go out there with a friend 21st - 25th July to try and get a few things sorted (with the help of Dave Baxter).  Hopefully the pool will be in use by then as it's likely to be quite hot I imagine.
Then we are both planning to go put again 15th - 26th September and possibly November - just keeping a look out for the cheap flights from Cardiff to become available.

I would like to introduce myself - Shirley, my family are about to complete in Veranda Block 3, first floor.  I would be keen to meet up with any 'new neighbours'  probably be out in August and October.

Also I would appreciate if you have any contact details for Dave ref the fittings for bathrooms etc and light fittings.

We are hoping to complete over the next few weeks, and will be out in August and October with our youngest son Ciaran aged 10, so might get a chance to meet up.

Hi Shirley,
We will be 'near neighbours' in Block 5, 4th floor.  I can't see us being out there in August or October though.  We are hoping to complete soon and will be out in July, just for a few days, then again in September then hopefully November, just for the inside of a week.  Still,I'm sure we'll get to meet up one of these days.  Good luck with everything.

Hi Shirley and congratulation’s on the near completion of you apartment. We are Kevin and Debbie Cooper and have two sons Callum who is 15 and Connor 10. We completed the purchase of our apartment two weeks ago Block 5, ground floor. My wife is hoping to come out sometime in August with her mum and our youngest, and we will all be out on the 22^nd October. Hope to see you then.

Thanks for the post!  Hope all went smoothly with your completion (we're almost ready for the title deed to be signed by the solicitor).  My daughter Sarah (10) and I will be out for a few days in August and I'm going to be there in October - 19th thru 15th with my parents and my youngest Adam (5) - we'll def. catch up with you then!

Hi everyone

Can I make a suggestion?

We bought on Thalassa & completed in October last year. Since then we have organised 3 get togethers where a number of owners have gone to either the Wok Buffet or El Balconcito for a night out.

On all 3 occasions we have had between 22 & 26 people involved. It is a great opportunity to get to know your new neighbours & it makes life around the development quite pleasant as you are seeing people that you know rather than strangers. 

Both of the restaurants mentioned are close by & children are welcome & catered for.

Thanks Noreen, I think thats a great idea. 

So if anyone is heading out for a few days post on the forum and see who else is around and then pick a night to try meet up for a bite to eat a chat and even a drink!!!! 

That would be really nice, and the food in the Wok is sooooooo good I wouldnt mind going there any time, I havnt eaten at El Balconcito so cant comment on their menu.

I sugegst that one person co-ordinates via PM as it is not wise to discuss openly when you are going to be in residence because it is when apartments are occupied that is of interest to thieves. 

El Balconcito is a small Spanish bar/restaurant. When you get to the bottom roundabout, instead of turning right towards Consum, you turn left towards Villaricos. You then take an almost immediate right turn & it is just down the road a couple of hundred yards.

We had 24 people in May at El Balconcito & Carmen basically did Menu del Dia for us. Salad, Main Course & Dessert. we also drank copious amounts of lemonade & the bill per person came to 22 euros, so not bad for a really good night out. Carmen & her staff are friendly & efficient & the food is good ( not top class restaurant quality but well presented & edible).

The Wok is also very good, we have had 2 nights out there which with drinks worked out at 15 euros per head & on Monday nights they have entertainment.

Good news - Mortgage has now been confirmed - only a matter of time now for completion!

Will certaintly take your advise re PM Noreen and sure it would be rude not to try both places and then compare notes!! At those prices you really cant go wrong, am looking forward to maybe getting together with a few neighbours in August sometime.
