We have had friends retun from our apartment this weekend and they have informed us that there is building work going on again on the hill to the side of the complex.
Does anyone have any further info on this.......the last we heard was that the building work stopped because the ground was too soft to build on and the developers (Aifos) were supposed to be making the hill 'good' again (how I don't know).
Would appreciate any info if anyone knows what is what?
Thanks!

darren, i was over on the 13/14th june & saw no new activity, my balcony (block 9) looks out onto the hill
considering the current state of the costa property market i think (fingers crossed) it would be unlikely that the developer
would take the risk at this stage with the development especially in view of the legal / unsuitable ground (to soft) etc
i have had the appartment for 18 months & have never slept in it etc, apart from the air con not working (being sorted) & the shower
going through into the bathroom of the flat below (being sorted) i was happy, the internal quality of the appartments are good, i have
been on this coast for 25 years from marbella to manilva & these are not bad units, if we all make a concerted effort to keep the community
in good shape then we will all get through the current slump, interest rate rises etc etc etc & live to tell the tale.
i am going back next week with my wife & children & will post a further update when i return

Thanks for the reply, however it would appear the 'movement/happenings' started just after the 14th June, our guests went in on the 14th and came out on the 21st June, when I spoke with them on the 22nd June, they said while they were there (can not be too sure what day exactly) they started 'building' on the hill and were glad they were not going to be there the following week as all dust was blowing up on to the terrace (we also are in block 9) and they were working right through from 8.00am to 5.30pm every day with lorries back and forth!!!!
That is the information I am working with and why I am trying to get answers as to what is actually happening......we like yourselves and many others, all believe the ground to be too soft to build on, but 'hey' this is Spain and God knows what techniques they have up their sleeve to make something suitable to build on........we hope, as someone else on PP we know has suggested, that it " might" be the start of a clean up......but they are not sure themselves what is happening.
As you are going out yourself soon, yes I would appreciate to hear back from you as to what you see and can make out.
Thanks for the reply!

Hi we have just returned and we were there when the first digger started and the lorries commenced. We spoke to Pepe who is from the Jarquil builders and still works on the complex a couple of days a week. He was quite sure building was going ahead and Calahonda Hills complex would in fact be built.
Prior to speaking to him, our president in Block 2 assured us that they in fact DID get full planning permission.

Oh dear........well if that is the case it is going to get done.....next question though....does anyone know if you are entitled to compensation from the builders for the cleaning of the terrace and windows which will be in a daily state of filth while the work goes on?
Probably not...but worth asking anyway.

Well for anyone following this thread, I may finally have an answer as I have just got to finally speak with somone in one of the Aifos offices.
Apparantly all the licences are in place and they are just waiting for the bank to give the finance, which again is apparantly all agreed.
A lot of the apartments have already been sold, as soon as the bank releases the money the building will start and that will be very shortly with an estimated 18 - 24 month build time.
Oh Happy days!!!!

Well you are certainly in a position to pick up on things, so I will wait with baited breath for further news......although somewhat confused as the people who look after our aprtment say that there is activity going on, on the hill with lorries up and down and the occasional digger has been seen there, although no obvious signs of any further development??????

We have just returned from a very hot 2 weeks at our apartment. The builders were there pretty much every day Mon - Fri for the 2 weeks we were there. There was very little noise and they didn't disturb us at all. We spent a fair bit of time on our terrace and managed to stay dust free. It has to be said that we couldn't really work out what the builders were doing, although it looked to us that the building work was continuing rather than it being rectified.
As a matter of interest a local informed us that Afos have a bad name and are extremely slow at building. If they are continuing with the build it could go on for a few years yet!

My owner neigbour has just returned from PP and although very little activity seen on the hill over the past 3 weeks says that temporary 'poles' have been put on the hill for what they think is electricity or telephone lines???????
Does this suggest that building is still going ahead?
ALHUARIN........any further updates to your reported filing for bankruptcy by Aifos, or just general info on whether building is going ahead on that site by any developer (Aifos may have sold the site on???)
Thanks again for any info from anyone......
