Somport tunnel

Hi all,

We completed on Veranda 1 month ago, i have just downloaded my bank statement from banco popular and found that two debits for 20.88 euros have been taken from my account for  NO-Resident Certify Charge. Can anyone advise me what this charge is for and more important is this a monthly charge or a one off payment.

Hi Kevin,
I have already sent you a PM re the contact we'd had with Cajarmar Bank and being told that a new law stated that we need a certificate from the Police Station, other than the NIE number.
I am still waiting for clarifucation on this from our solicitor.  I wonder if anyone esle has come up against a similar problem.

Excuse me for trespassing in your development forum  but I like to help if I can & I have friends in this forum so I look in now & then.

The charge you talk of is a fee taken every other year. It depends on your bank as to what they charge, no two banks are the same. We were with Cambank & they were charging around 17 - 18€ per person named on the current account.

We have since moved to Banco Halifax as it 's free as are other things charged by other banks & we also have online banking facilities with them. If you are interested I've just posted AGAIN here >>> Best bank for expats Banco Halifax have no branches in your area though, unfortunately. It may be that this won't affect you as, with a UK Halifax current a/c you can transfer free anyway. Maybe one to consider.

We were charged 17 euros each back in December for the non residency certificate.

The Bank advised that this covered a period of 2 years.

Thanks for the responses.  What I'm still confused about is the fact that we were actually trying to pay money IN which surely would have enabled them to then take the charges that apply. 
The good news is, we have spoken to Key Mare who have advised us that this would not delay th Electricity & Water being connected, which is a relief with our first visit coming up shortly.
Halifax has been mentioned to us before but rightly or wrongly we decided to opt for a bank with a local branch.
