As most people are probably aware some of the apartments on phase one have now had their electricity supply changed over from builder's to Iberdrola. Just wondering if anybody else is in the same position as me, i.e., on completion back in January 2007 my Solicitor insisted they retain 300 euros of my money to simplify the procedure of change over of utilities. 150 euros for electricty and 150 euros for water (approx figures). Well, lo and behold trying to get my money from my Solicitor is like trying to get blood out of a stone. I have been emailing and faxing all week but to no avail. Either there is no response or a return email pretending they do not understand what I am talking about. I have also been in touch with Taray via Teresa about the situation and Teresa says, "do not worry we will take the money from your bank".  Apart from the fact that Taray do not have my current bank details why would I want to pay twice! I cannot seem to make anybody understand that my Solicitor has the funds for this recent connection of electricty and should be approached for payment.

Sorry about the rambling but thought I should bring it to the attention of anybody who might be in a similar situation. Any new buyers beware! You do not have to leave money with your Solicitor for utilities.

Colin.

Sorted!!
Well, the situation has been clarified, at last. My Solicitor retained 300 euros on my behalf on completion to pay to Taray for the administration charges regarding electricity/water supplies. This they did on completion but it took them four days, recently, to tell me this. It also took Taray the same amount of time to inform me that this money had been paid to them back in January 2007 when we completed. The hiccup came when a further 180 euros was demanded. This I refused to pay until eventually Teresa was able to explain to me that this 180 euros was a one off charge for the supply of the electricity meter. There will be no charge for the supply of a water meter in the future.

Helder has taken the trouble of printing out an information page with regard to this problem as many people, like me, were very confused.

Colin
