Just found an article from the Telegraph ( it was June 2005) which say the following about Polaris World communications.

'Every home will have a special phone, TV and internet service with high speed broadband available. Antennae perched high on the nearby mountains will relay more than 140 television channels, including Sky and the main British channels to every home.'

Do owners at Mar Menor and La Torre get this television service and is it included in the one off 400 euro payment?

We stayed in aMar Menor villa in Aug and they had all the channels cos my kids kept up with Big Brother on channel 4. However I don't know what the owners paid for this.

Hi Ace,

In that case they were illegally relaying SKY, like a hotel would so that you could recieve it on a standard TV.  In PW they don't do this, see the link in my post below, what they do is relay the encrypted signal so each person would still need thier only SKY box and card to decode the signal.  Now the fact that it's probably still illegal to recieve SKY ouside the UK is a different matter.

Hi Confused,

It is illegal, but everyone does it.  PW are just sending out the signal, get a box in the UK ( or one of a hundred places in Spain ) and just plug it in.
I'll probably buy a box a freeview card off ebay, or maybe just get a Sky freesat box from currys.

hi all,can anyone tell me if it's possible to recieve freesat signals in our resort.as it's an unscrambled signal the only issue seems to be the footprint of the satelite and the size and position of the dish required.i would like to use my own freesat box,i know the programmes are not as varied as sky but they are getting better and they are free.
any advice welcome.

Will dishes be allowed.  Lots of rules and regulations haven't even looked at yet.

hi,my boss has a villa in la marina near alicante and the police raided the place where their signal is relayed from and took down parts of the mast/aerials and closed them down.now he has hundreds of pounds worth of equipment that he can not use.the only way he may be able to get a signal is to put up his own dish and bring his skybox and viewing card from uk.if he's paying for it in uk then surely it is not illegal?

buy my sky hd box off me and i'll get the new humax hd box that can record one programme while you watch another, fast forward ,rewind, and pause live action, just like sky plus and sky hd.but the programmes are free(after you've paid the £300 daft price for it).you'd think that they would have targetted the price below the sky hd box which you could buy for £150 or less.

cheers.tony

About 6 weeks ago on the Gadget Show they had a device (about £100) that would access your box at home (uk) and then source your channels wherever you were. It did mean that family remaining at home would have to put up with you in Spain (or wherever) changing channels- but it is an option.

As our house probably drains the national grid and we have tv's in every room bar the bathroom (but including the garage and two in an extended lounge) with cable sourced around the house in differnet ways we think they can survive with us managing the main tv channels from Spain- if only we can find the name of this device.!!

Hi all
The Sling Box is what JHMurcia mentioned. Looks like a good option as long as broadband is available on Condado
Heres a link...       http://www.radioandtelly.co.uk/slingbox.html
