Hi
Can anyone advise the protocols which should be undertaken with the Town Hall and/or San Jose to install ballustrades on the Azucena porch to the same style as the bedroom balcony? Also, with the great Sky switch-off, does anyone know the same for a large sat dish? I've heard of problems recently regarding both at the El Pinet development.
Many thanks.
Neil

Hi Neil - welcome to the forum and to Play Golf.
You don't need any permission for the ballustrades - San Jose only put them onto balconies if they were above a certain height (I think this is the only health & safety law I've come across in Spain!) so it is totally in keeping with the development to add the same style. If you want to add them to the side walls then you need to ask your neighbours only - and ask them to share in the cost as they are pretty expensive!
As for dishes - I don't think anyone asks permission although I think it is probably the rule that you should. I am getting an outside siren added to my Securitas system and they have advised I need to ask the Town Hall if it is OK!
There is a whole thread on the main forum about TV and sat dishes - under "Telemicro gone again". I have decided to go with Canal+ which has free installation and then a monthly fee of 21€ with add-ons if you want more programmes.
Are you just moving in? Which part of the development?
Regards

Hi Claire
Thanks for your reply. The info regarding the ballustrades is in-line with advice received from others previously (so I'm now more comforted on this aspect). The sat dish is a concern though. My neighbours over the road in the UK have the Azucena at El Pinet and fly over every couple of months. Having just returned, and seeing me wrestle with a 2.4m flat packed dish, they advised that they had heard of the Civil Guardia issuing 700 euro fines and instructing users to take down dishes over 1.9m. How true this is, I'm not sure.
There are some real benefits to be gained by purchasing a dish in tghe UK. 2.4m dish - £170, Twin Invacom LNB and feed horn - £60, sat finder - £6, transport together with shipping several other large household items - £200, 2 receivers - £free (I have several out of contract modern digiboxes). Watching Freesat - £free for life!
I have a property on R2 which is a holiday home and I'm considering siting the dish on the sun deck (as the house blocks a clear view of the satellite) so that I can lay it down when not in residence for security and keeping a low profile. It will take only af ew minutes to realign when I come over the next time.
Have you any idea how I may make contact with the town hall from the UK to seek authority for the installation? Also, do you know whether San Jose would have a view whilst we await the certificate of habitation? I intend to take care of both these installations in December.
Many thanks.
Neil

Hi Neil - I really don't think it is possible to talk to the town hall from the UK - it's hard enough to do it when you are standing in front of them!! I am going there today to ask about my siren for my alarm so I will ask about sat dishes at the same time.
I would hope that your Habitation Certificate has already been issued and should be with the President of your community. In any case, a dispute about a dish would not interfere with this as it is simply a document to say that San Jose have completed the building and surrounding areas to a certain standard. I also think that San Jose have enough troubles with the Administration process to worry about sat dishes! It would be more relevant to speak to the President of the community about the dish being on a balcony as it will affect the look of the building.
I'll let you know what they say at the town hall.
Regards

Hi again - well I went off to the town hall and they told me that I did not need permission to put up a siren for my alarm nor did I need it for a TV antenna.
They were a bit confused at me asking - don't think anyone has bothered to ask them before!
Just need to check with the President and you should be fine.

Hi Claire
Thanks for raising the question at the town hall. I presume that you went to the one at Orihuela Costa? Things are looking good then for my installation as R2 on Playa Golf III does not have a president as we are still looked after by San Jose for water, electricity and pool upkeep.
I now just need the Euro to weaken against the pound and I'll be very happy!
Once again. Thanks for your assistance.
Regards.

Hi Neil,
There is a president on Playa Golf III. His name is Stan, I dont know which house he lives in. We met him on our last visit to collect our pool and post box keys.
We are going to Spain on 12th October, if I find out his address, I will let you know.

Just to clarify, There are many presidents on Playa Golf III... each block has one, other than R2 which has just been completed and still on builders supply etc., and probably not fully operational.
We are on R3 and ballustrades, TVs antenna etc., would not normally require town hall approval. San Jose themselves fitted ballustades automatically on patios higher than 1 mtr.

Hi Freddy and Mya
As I mentioned earlier, I'm on R2 so there is still a degree of turmoil and plenty of empty properties. I could actually install the sat dish on the property next to me which is empty and has a better line of site to the satellite. Mmmm, there's a thought!.
Best regards.
Neil

It does seem as though there are more sat dishes going up at the moment.. many of the systems being sold after the Telemicro problems are themselves still illegal as they are still re-broadcasting though.... Companies jumping on the bandwaggon are charging € 699 plus € 15 per month ( check out Carrefour )
Fortunately many of us have managed to get ours back on, with more channels than before, but it did take a bit of re-alignment of the mesh and retuning of the TV etc.,...For how long though.. nobody knows. This message was last edited by freddy on 10/2/2008.

I decided to go for the Digital + service which has free installation at the moment and costs 20.95€ per month for the basic package (about 30 channels) and another 7€ per month for an option called Series which has lots of US programmes like House, CSI etc. Any programme which was made in English can be turned back to the original language and there are subtitles available too. It doesn't have UK channels as such but there are lots of news programmes in English. I'm hoping to chop and change with the languages to help me with my spanish lessons!
It was installed in a few days and the dish is about the same size as the Telemicro mesh one - anyone want a used Telemicro dish??

It was lovely to meet you too Freddy - it is great when you get to put a face to all the familiar EOS names!
Glad the old dish could benefit someone - I do so hate to waste anything.
Regards
