Hi Gary & Angela (ladylola)

I just thought I would bring this thread back up to the top again because the post by TrishD  on JNSQ  looked very interesting!

When I was on Condado last week someone opposite me introduced herself and in conversation she stated almost word for word what TrishD complaint was!

They were hoping to come and find their apartment all decked out with nothing to do!
Yet  they found most things were just temporary as JNSQ didn't have things in stock!!  She was very disappointed as everyday the JNSQ workman were working around them which they didn't want.  She told me to go over and have alook so I went over the next day  they weren't in and the workman had taken over the place, I must say the furniture looks lovely but if thats JNSQ attitude then there are plenty of nice furniture shops with lovely furniture packages about for you to spend your money on!

Think its all down to luck really- we have found most pack companies to be expensive for what they provide .  Je Ne  Sais Quoi was smart but wasnt for us. These companies are all really convenient, when they do it all on time. The only one we got close to dealing with was Murcia Furniture and after various phone calls and a visit to the store and an estimate,  then a further phone call and email we haven' t heard from them.  If you have time to look around the various Muebles you can find the same furniture at less expense and maybe with more variation but you do have to weigh the time spent against convenenience. In the event we  have done the apartment ourselves and this visit spent minimum of 4 full days shopping till mid evening but it was  a great week - and those extra bits we didnt manage to get give us something to go out for next time we are there.

Thanks for this info Scapa. We are committed to a package with JNSQ so will have to ride it out but there are a few conversations to be had with them based on Trish & your postings.

We're actually staying in another apartment on site in March when we intend to get JNSQ to fit out the apartment so it may not be too bad if they fit out during the week we are there as opposed to in a single day. Hopefully if the temporary stuff is as a result of changing suppliers things may have settled down by March......we'll see!

Still glad not to be shleping around a load of shops and doing things piecemeal but that's what suits us.

Yes, it is 4am midweek, but I've just got in - this is my life !!!!

For anyone thinking of buying a furniture pack, can you really not take a week out to just drive round Murcia (the area) and choose exactly what you want after a day of measuring every bit of your place ?

I was adamant that i would furnish without going out there, but after having the opportunity of doing so (following a cancelled Holiday) I am so glad i had that week........... will have done it at half the projected cost and learnt a helluva lot more about the area and the roads/amenities during that week.

Is it really worth it going for a pack ?

Hi  Shampers
We originaly were going for the "pack", but after shopping around different shops we were able to get what we liked. Ask for Sale Price (not where PGM lives!!) and they will discount for you. We are having TWO different companies for our full furniture and it was a lot cheaper than any pack. Dont get me wrong but a pack would suit a lot of buyers for the freedom of hassle. Again Shampers is correct!!!

Hi All

Interesting reading all of your comments.

I contacted JNSQ this week and no one has been to our apartment since we came back the beginning of last week. They say my outstanding items are still out of stock and possibly some could be sent tomorrow as a fitting team is due on Condado tomorrow (don't hold out to much hope though).
The logistics manager seems to be a one woman team and she is taking the flack from everyone, not quite the professional service they appear to be at the big sell.

I advise all of you to listen to the wise words of do it yourself, it may seem like a lot of hassel going round shops and arranging delivery yourself but it will be worth it trust me. WISH we had done that !!

But never the less we are not letting this dampen our feelings we love our apartment and the resort will be something else once completed.
There is a real nice community feeling about the place and this forum is a fantasitc help for advice and support.

I would just like to say thank you to all of you.

Trish - it will be well worth it long term, and just like your No1 home am sure furniture will wear out and get changed as time goes by - I doubt anyone has bought their last piece of furniture on their 1st attempts at furnishing, but we'll be much wiser next time !!

Dave LRJ - i'm still saying 1.35 by Q2 next year as well, we keep pushing towards it but can't quite sustain the break thru 1:30, rather hope that's the one thing i will be right about in due course.

Dave

Dave, you are forgetting the 'Tann' effect.

Look at the chart.

Now guess when I transfered the final payment.  That's right Sep 3rd.

Now look what it's doing now that i'm going out next week to start shopping?

Sorry folks, there no chance of it recovering until I have the whole apartment furnished.  So save your money until I give the go ahead, at least next Feb, should be on the way up after that.

Phil

My crystal ball needs its software upgrading to take account of the 'ptan' affect............ where is Mystic Meg when you need her ?

The next few weeks will be interesting as the fx markets digest the UK interest rate cut, may have a short term bad affect on the £/€ rate until Euroland cuts its interest rate further, which it will have to do !

We rather enjoyed the 'shelping' around the shops and look forward to doing some more when we are back over to get those extra bits and pieces. One bonus of all the shopping is that we now know where all these places are. We bought on Condado without knowing the area of Murcia at all and alot of our knowledge has come through reading on the forum and various maps and tourist guides. As a result of all our shopping and being out and about we have a better idea of how the land lies- so to speak. I'd have to add that we have come in well under any furniture packs estimates and that may be useful for any future shoppers to know. We used all the info on the forum and knew exactly where we were going (TomTom at the ready) and apart from a bit of mystery tour on the way back from Dos Mares and once missing a junction as you get to Leroy Merlin  it was pretty straightforward.

Oh come on Phil, play fair now with the 'Tann' effect!  Go get all your furniture in one hit!  Use a furniture pack!  Then the rest of can then enjoy a better rate!     Pleeeeease

Hi Jan and Mike and everyone

So impressed that you found your way round so easily.  We came out in September and had such plans.  We stayed in La Torre and got lost ALL the time.  Our lovely new Tom Tom took us all over the place, NEVER where we wanted to go.  Once it led us into a field nearly through a man hearding his goats.  We planned to look at DFS and Ikea and missed an appointment with Murcia Furniture as we just got so terribly lost.  We had directions from Polaris World from La Torre to Condado and they too were unclear but amazingly by a pure miracle we found Condado even though we went the really, really, really long way round.  We spent nearly our whole week in the car and still achieved nothing.

Thank you all for your comments on furniture, we have been tormenting ourselves as we didn't know whether to pay someone to bring furniture, drive it ourselves or just buy in Spain and wish you all luck and am sure the furniture pack companies will come good eventually.  I think it is the Spanish way of life that they just don't worry too much about things and I suppose that is what attracted us all to purchase in Spain.

I have just informed my husband that we are likely to be shopping solidly for four days from morning till night (I bet he is wishing we could go for a furniture pack now) and driving backwards and forwards (I will need the tranquilisers).

xxxxx

Hi Boormane, its what suits in the end. We did see furniture we liked in the furniture pack shops but were genuinely surprised at the mark up- and so many offer far to much for the Condado apartments. However, it is convenient to get a pack and 'fingers crossed' sorted in one fell swoop. In doing it all ourselves our biggest anxiety was getting lights fitted and we did get the appliances and beds ordered before our first visit. Once the lights were in everything else followed quite smoothly. But our first few nights were lamp lit- cosy!

Hi Jan and Mike

How did you manage to order your appliances and beds before your first visit?  That is the best thing to do so that at least you had somewhere to sleep while doing all that shopping.

Regards

Liz
