I’m off to Benidorm t’day on a blanket trip. I aven’t been over there for 50 years so I’m expecting things could've changed a bit.
Anyway, It’ll be nice to be amongst my fellow countrymen for a change and be able to ask for me pint without pointing at the pump.
And though I’ve lived in Jumilla for nigh on 73 year, I have to say, that to me, the Spanish language is well, gibberish!
Course Iike everyone else I can get by with speaking-up loudly and pointing at things but it would help things along a bit if the Spaniards could put some effort into learning the Kings English!!
Yes, before you ask, of course I’ve picked-up some of the lingo over the years. You have to or you’d never get anything to eat or drink!
My advice, for them thinking of moving over here, is to put some effort into learning the basics before you get off the plane.
Course if yer planning to set-up on the coast you don’t have to do this!
If yer can’t be bothered with all this learning malarky , and this is very understandable, in my opinion, then just memorise these few key words and like me you’ll be fine:
Sir vay sir (ale) v-no (plonk) agwhere (water) key-saw (cheese) cato (cat) kasser (house)
me (me) vou (you)
Cheerio for now, the bus’s just pulled up outside, who’s that waving? I think it might be...............
