Hi all,
I arrived at Balcones at 9.30pm of Thursday 11th Dec. to find my water switched off. Rudina knew I was arriving that day. They had isolated the gate valve in the street outside our town house. I did not know this at the time and had to make do with a bottle of water given to me by the spannish couple living in one of the Town Houses. The water was turned on next day by "Uncle Pepe", I now know where the gate valve (stop cock) is but would need a special tool in order to operate the valve. When I left on Sunday morning I isolated the indoor main malve and hope Rudina isolate the outside valve again.
It was cold during my visit and after a night of being cautious with the electricity supply I quickly learned that only haveing limited heaters turned on is not sufficient to keep the rooms I was using to a reasonable temporature as more heat is lost to other colder rooms. After the first night with one then two 4 Tog duvet's, I put a third double 8 Tog duvet onto the single bed that I slept on. There was just myself and the spannish couple at balcones until Phil and Cath arrived home from hols early Sunday morning. I met them for half hour before leaving for home. Although it was a bad experience with the cold and having to rough it on the first night, I learned a lot from the visit and got the work done that I had planned.
A family member came to visit me on the Saturday from Velez Malaga area (warmer there) with a friend who is an installer of air conditioning. He is providing me with a quote for air conditioning in 2 bedrooms and the lounge. The airconditioning units are more powerful, giving off more heat in cold conditions than the heaters will and use much less electricity. The air conditioning is a priority for us before we all visit in February half term and summer months. I asked the air conditioning installer to let me have an indication of cost for other Town Houses and appartments to pass on to those interested.
For those going at Christmas, be warned, have suitable beding that you would use in winter months at home with no heating turned on. You may need it, also enquire if the electricity is still on the developers supply and what is recommended re turning on appliances to prevent tripping of the power.
Regards,
Trevor
