Having returned from Condado last night I feel compelled to write to the forum about something I couldn't beleive I had witnessed on Jardin 4 yesterday. On arrival last Thursday I wandered down to the fenced in Jardin 4 swimming pool area to find the grassed areas covered in dog mess....unbeleivable..... on Sunday prior to leaving,.... a guy with a large white husky on a lead wandered into Jardin 4 took the dog to the entrance of the swimming pool opened the gate then let the dog off the lead and shooed the dog into the fenced area before closing the gate behind it. As he did so I challenged him as to what he thought he was doing considering the dog mess that was already there, he said he always picked up any mess, I told him that the existing evidence suggested otherwise and that this was not acceptable behaviour, I asked him which Jardin he was from Jardin 5 was the answer...... When I asked him why he was in Jardin 4 he said 'cos the dog's already been in 5 today'. he then rounded the dog back up and went back to his apartment in Jardin 5.
His residency in Jardin5 was also confirmed by a permanent resident of Jardin 4 who joined me in my challenge
I will be writing to Polaris World to complain about this guy but thought it pertinent that everyone knew as Jardin4's swimming pool area yesterday could be your swimming pool area tomorrow.
If you see a guy with a white husky in any of the public areas I suggest you watch him closely

Hi Gary
Many thanks for your post.
I am on Jardin 4 and will be going out on the 20th -27th and then again in February
I will be keeping an eye out for this bloke with the husky dog and will inform security if I see him
To be honest I thought that dogs were not allowed on the Jardins or at least must be kept on a lead
If you give me his apartment number I will make sure that he has a little Christmas present delivered to his door!
Regards
Pam

Gary,
Well said, we should all be vigilant against this sort of irresponsible behavior on our resort, and in our Gardens.
It does not take many to ruin it for all.
Incidently it is the Law in Spain that dogs are kept on a lead at all times.

As an owner on Jardine 5, I too find this absolutely disgusting especially as we like most have children running about.
Can I ask was this person definately from Jardine 5??
I was there at the end of November and we were the the only ones, I think, in that Jardin at the time. I did see an older couple a few times walking a dog through at the lower end of the garden but went straight through, whether or not they are in garden 5 I don't know.
It was definately a white dog, thought it was an alsation type from a distance.

Hi All
We are owners in Jardin 5 and like most people are disgusted that owners would let thier animals foul public areas. We were on Jardin 5 late October early November and saw the white husky with a lady, the dog was sniffing all around the grass just outside our patio area we were watching and would definately have confronted the owner if the dog had used the Jardinas as a toilet. . We will be very vigilant and will have no hesitation in confronting these people and reporting to Security and Polaris.
We need to establish acceptable behavior in the early days to ensure we keep Condado a healthy and safe enviroment for all.

By the sounds of the response you got from this guy, I think I would probably help him out and pick up his dog's dooings............................................and promptly ram it in his face. Yes, I am quite big.
We are dog owners as well and would never leave the nasties for others to be burdened with.

Oh No not barking dogs.
Dont get me wrong I love dogs in fact we once owned a beautiful German shepard named Candy & later gave a good home to 2 german shepards that were rescue dogs, unfortunatly they have passed away now but one thing you have to be aware of is other people who live along side you.
No responsible owner would take their dog out with out a pooper scooper. I always carried baby wipes soaked in disinfectant with me too just incase it was ever needed.
I have to say that had I known dogs ,or cats for that matter & yes we have cats too were going to be allowed on the site I dont know if we would have bought on Condado..
My friend has a very expensive appartment in Costa del Sol & its disgusting at times with dogs being allowed to foul the area,
Jan

Hi we noticed a big white dog who lives in Jardine 2 Appartment 207 we think (end apartment with BBQ on terrace). It might be a co-incidence but its unlikely that there are two big white dogs living on there.
We are out there over Christmas and will also keep a look out for this.

Yes, there is a white dog in Jardin 2 and also one in Jardin 5. I was out in Condado early November and the people who own the dog in Jardin 5 were trying to get it to swim in the pool. I must say I was horrified but I don't know if they actually got it into the pool or not. Polaris should definitely put 'No Dogs Allowed' sign up around the pool area.

Well said Bilbo!
I think that it is absolutely disgusting that dogs are even allowed in the complex to be honest, never mind accompanied by an irresponsible owner. If I even see a dog off a lead I will report it, as not being dog owners ourselves and wouldn't even consider keeping the things in this country, why should we buy into a concept in another country and have it ruined with them. (This is very close to my heart as my daughter was bitten by a dog 6 months ago). My children are still very young and I would like the confidence to know they are safe whilst playing in our own jardine. Is it too much to ask?..........And the mess if it is stood in??? I know who would end up cleaning that off their shoes?????
Kind Regards
Kelly & Simon

Guys,
Glad to see I'm not the only one who finds this disgusting, selfish and downright inconsiderate of others, but I can only stick to the facts, It was a white Husky (i am a dog owner myself,in the UK and recignised the breed), the guy confirmed his residence as jardin 5 and this was further corroberated by a resident on Jardin 4 who has already complained to Polaris World...I do not want to start any problems for responsible dog owners out there.

Gary,
Have to say thank you to you for bringing this to our attention. We are in Jardin 7 but as you said it could be our Jardin tomorrow We were out the end of Oct and my kids did use the pool and walked barefoot over (against my wishes I must add) but now to think that somebody might actually be forceing their dog to swim & mess around the pool is revolting!!!!! and I have been a dog owner & am a dog lover! but its bad enough that I have to clean up other dog owners mess at home I dont want to be doing it when we are on Condado too
I think if any of us see this we get onto PW and complain to them. I'm sure they will soon get fed up if we all do it and hopefully they will do something about it.

Gary,
You are right to be concerned. As I said, we are dog owners ourselves and 'love her to bits' but it is the irresponsible owners who tarnish the reputation of all owners when they 'leave their deposits and run'. It puts anyone who is out walking their dog under suspicion. It peeves me back at home when you walk the dog and see evidence of others irresponsibility on the pavements. It is no hardship having the black bags handy and people know how high profile the issue is.
Kelly, I am not onboard with you being disgusted that dogs are allowed on the complex - as long as people are responsible and also have the right type of dogs (I think you know where I am coming from here) they can be a major part of great family recreation. You have to take a balanced view and don't categorise everyone on the evidence of your unfortunate experience. I'm sure your little children would adore our little Shih Tzu - most of the kids think she is a little teddy bear. The problem is usually the owners not the dogs. Poppy will certainly accompany us on a visit at some time, but will be on a lead when being walked and left to run free where it will not cause inconvenience to anyone else.
Regards,

I actually asked about dogs being allowed on the complex and what would happen if dogs messed and was told this would not be allowed to happen! I would suggest as many people as possible contact PW and complain, so this disgusting behaviour NEVER happens again. It would appear to some people dogs take priority over children. It is the same irresponsible behaviour by owners that see them walking their dogs on the beach even though this is not allowed. I myself have 3 dogs, they are well trained, obidient and I pick up after all of them every day.
Lets not forget that dog mess can cause blindness. Another issue would be cats as their behaviour cannot be controlled and they never mess in their own backgarden so to speak. Action needs to be taken now to nip this in the bud as you only need to make a calculation as to how many irresponsible people per 100 or so there are and multiply that by how many will be on the complex when it is complete.

Hi
I totally agree with you sky2, you took the words out of my mouth! The more complaints then maybe the quicker PW will start putting signs up for those who are selfish , lazy or don't have any common sense!
I have a little westie too and I love him to bits but I wouldn't expect anybody else to love him (they won't be able to help it though, he's changed 3 peoples views on dogs that I know) , or clean up after him!
Unfortunately I can see this as an ongoing problem, because when I was at the hotel in Mar Menor end of October, I couldn't believe what I saw a man walking across the golf course with two greyhound type dogs late around 9pm!!! No respect at all! Mind you he met his match when he came to the Irish bar 'cause there were a few angy golfers waiting for him!!
So yes I am going to write to PW today and complain and I hope evrybody else does too!

Think the disappointment is quite right- I wonder however, if PW will just pass this to the residents committees to deal with. I remember Carol commenting about a dog that barked incessantly when she first arrived at Condado and think that would be concern too. There's so much space on the outer perimeter of the resort for dogs to be walked rather than through the Jardines. Makes you wonder how many pools he's already had the dog swimming in. They are taking advantage of there being so few residents.
When we queried what could be added to or altered on the Pergola's customer services said that problems on the Jardines would be referred to the residents committees and PW wouldn't concern themselves with issues. I hope thats not the case with pets.

Hi Gary,
Did the dog actually go into the swimming pool? and not just the fenced area?
Hi Bilbo,
Hear what you're saying but now I don't trust any animal and prefer to keep my distance and had I known that large dogs would reside here off a lead then again I would have choosen a holiday home somewhere else. In my opinion I don't feel safe when dogs are around my children and will not put my faith into an animal no matter how friendly they appear. I will remember the unfortunate event as a lesson and thank my lucky stars that she is okay. This experience will undoubtedly make me judgemental towards all dogs especially large ones in the future. I am aware that there are responsible dog owners out there and most owners keep their dogs on leads, especially when around children they do not know, but it is hard to decifer these from a distance, do I wait till they pick the poo up first to qualify if they are a responsible owner? then relax? No of course not, I approach all with caution. Of course I am extremely concerned regarding the foul mess and of course the adverse affects that this could potentially have on my children.
I am aware that this is leaving the thread slightly but it is all incorporated under "irresponsible dog owners". Sorry but like I said this is a subject very close to my heart.
It goes without saying that I have already e-mailed my complaint into PW.
Kind Regards
Kelly

Hi Kelly.
As a owner of very large dogs (who sadly have passed away now() German shepards)
I have to say that no responsible owner would allow their dog off a lead when other people are around & never alone with young children.
Both of my sons were bitten buy neibours dogs a different times, The dogs incidently were smaller breeds.
King Charles spaniel & a Corgie. my youngest son nearly lost an eye but fortunatly the dog missed by a very small margin
Even the most friendly dog can have a bad day & often a child will not pick up on the signs a dog is giving. .
but geting back to the issue of the dog on jardines 5.
We agree with you, and would not have bought had we known that animals would be alowed on site,
I Have just sent an email to Polaris voicing our concernes. I also telephoned their customer service to see what policy Polaris has on dogs & cats & was told that dogs are allowed on site but must be on a lead at all times. This does`nt cover the issue of dog mess though. You can still allow a dog to do its toiletrys whilst on a lead & i`m sorry but it just is`nt some thing that any one wants to be near to in a built up resedential area.
What realy worries us is that the owner & dog may turn out to be our next door neibours
Jan & Ham

Hi all
Just got an email back PW customer services and this was the answer.
Thank you for the e-mail
This issue should be addressed to the community of owners in Condado de Alhama. The e-mail address is as follows
I have just emailed the general suggesting signs to be put up as soon as possible.
1) Stating all dogs on leads and
2) No fouling in the Jardines.
I know it might not do anything but it won't do any harm if all of us emailed the general! At least we are doing something positive!
