Local Hospital, Doctors & Medical Centres

I am not usually the pessimistic type but was wandering if anyone can assist with details of local medical services.

With an 18 month old you never know when she may bite off Iggle Piggles head or worse style meet the dog from another thread. This thread may be of use to the dog owner at some stage also.

The nearest Doctors is on CAMPOSOL , turn right at the roundabout just past BRICO`s , straight over the next roundabout and about  200mtrs on the right you will see a Medico sign and the DOCTOR is available from about 4.30 pm till about 8pm Monday to Friday , but the NURSE is there from about 10 am everyday.

They are very good ( so the wife says )  I use the one on Sector A called TELS BAR !!!!!!!!!

This is a good idea for a thread- when we were over in October and my husband was wandering around with an electric drill and a hammer I did wonder how on earth I would summon help in the event of an accident (believe me he has had minor electrical accidents previously!!)

How far away is any medical help or an ambulance or even the fire brigade?

Oh Simon and Claire - I have just about ended myself laughing at your last post!!  It's true though - I have a young daughter and it is utmost in your mind that you need to be prepared should something untoward happen.  I think you will find some useful numbers in the free magazines which you can pick up at the resort shop.  Hope this helps.  Although I suspect the hospital may well draw the line at re-attaching Iggle Piggle's head!!  Arlene xx

The supermarket a couple of weeks ago had leaflets in listing all emergency numbers next to the tills, unfortunately i've left them in the apartment incase I lost them at home.

I'm nearlly sure they had come from Resort Property Management who are now running the community at the moment.

There are health centres in Alhama, Cartegena,Totana & Mazarron most are open 24/7 and you would need your EHC the nearest hospital is in Cartegena.  I have always found the health service to be excellent here and very quick.

Just dial 112 and ask for which service you require , as you would dial 999 in the UK. ( and I bet that they are quicker in Spain )

There will soon be a Health Centre on Camposol A it is in the process of being built now at the back of Marianos Restauraunt,should be ready sometime next year.

On your next visit to sunny Spain pick up one of the free newspapers "round town news" etc they have a list of usefull telephone numbers tear this out and keep it handy. We found it invaluable when my wife was taken ill, also at one point i spoke to a practice nurse at Polaris World Medical Centre Mar Menor, and was given good advice dont have their number now but its worth finding it.
