Electricity cutting out

Is there any more news on the electricity tripping on and off?

I was in customer services signing up on friday for polaris to get our water and electric connected up have been told that elec  company first have to connect using low voltage breaker (15 amp) once connected and you have an account number you can request that a higher amp breaker (25/30 amp) be installed at you guessed it more cost hope this helps

Just back from Condado and it is a 25 amp that has been fitted to my meter which is just not adequate for the amount of electrical items in the apartment.  I asked about and it would appear that they fit a 25 amp as standard and you have to pay extra for a bigger fuse!!!  (Don't how much or whether this is the correct info)  I did ask an English builder and he just said he would change it to a 40 amp and has changed many in his time.  Obviously this is up to the individual as there is a seal on the fuse so it would mean breaking that seal which I would not be happy with personally.

I emailed PW Customer services requesting that they arrange for a 30/35 amp fuse to be fitted when my supply is connected, offering to pay any difference on costs. I pointed out that I did not want to pay for them to come back later.

You may not be too surpised to read the answer which came today.

"Regarding your query, please bear in mind that this issue is outside of our remit. Please contact with the electricity company at 0034-901202020"

I would do so but I'm afraid my telephone spanish is not up to it.

I feel that Pw must have made some sort of contract with Iberdrola and do bear some responsibility that what is fitted is adequate for the situation.

I also note that I'm a shareholder of Iberdrola due to a takeover.

Will be ot of touch for a while as we go to Condado tomorrow.

I am on 25 amp and when we use dyer plus oven and heating it trips.  Bought gas fire .

went to iberdola  in Puerto Mazarron and was told on maximum, however I understand can pay for more and extra charge on standing order will have to try again.

Sorry is it me! as I am slightly confused, not hard I know.

• Is the existing main fuse blowing requiring replacement by iberdola or someone?
• Or is the main fuse a circuit breaker requiring re-setting by iberdola or someone?
• If the main fuse is being replaced or re-set were is it located?
• Or is the power cutting out and then coming back on without intervention?
• Has anyone calculated the usage of the appliances in the apartments to determine fuse rating required?

Circuit breaker trips and I simply switch back after reducing demand,  keep torches handy!!

Iberdola also keeps cutting elec and sometimes off for hours sometimes minutes. again know where the torch is!!

Trip switch is the new one installed by Iberdola when off builders , there are also fuses in box on back wall , 

Calculating usage !!   If oven, tumble dyer and aircon heating comes on it trips

Gas fire really keep apartment warm especially if elec off most of the day.

Install after coming off builders supply and is this the one Jackie (smivs) says has a seal on?

There is a blank in top unit where the  breaker switches are by door that is used . The other is in the locked box at back of property

This is an absolute pee take by the electricity company and Polaris!!! Polaris hire the electricity company to do the work not the other way around, they pay the electricity contractor and thus call the shots as to what spec goes in if they wish.

This is a money making excercise by Iberdrola regards main switches and I defy them to say otherwise..

If you look in your own UK houses they will have either 80A or 100A main switch... My god even the sockets will have a bigger breaker than 25A! If you have a 3000W or 3KW heater on it will take about 13A!!!!!! To calculate how many Amps an electrical item takes divide how many watts the item says on it by the voltage which is between 220v and 240v and that will give you how many Amps the item is using...

Hi All, I have emailed completions at PW about this and the reply was that the total load PW have calculated into the apartment is 9.2 KW, which means that the breaker should be rated at 40amps, so the problem seems to be qwith the electric company fitting circuit breakers to low, I have asked PW to ensure that a correct circuit breaker is fitted to my apartment, 25 amps is less than 6KW. If they do not fit a 40amp breaker I will get someone else to put one in, it certainly isnt a big job they just clip onto the busbar, certainly doesnt need to be fitted by the electric company.
