Tax

As a non resident.I have been trying to establish what taxes we will have to pay annually.So far i have been told we will have to pay a wealth tax,suma tax,town hall tax.As well as community fees.Can anyone tell me what these taxes are?Much appreciated.

Not got to the bottom of this as yet but I can tell you that the wealth tax has now been abolished.

We asked our solicitor which taxes we needed to pay when we picked up our deeds last week.

He told us that we have 2 taxes to pay

non residence tax - which can be paid through the solictor for a fee.  I can't remember whether he said it needed to be paid by April or he would send us the bill in April.

abi tax - if we haven't had a bill at our Spanish address by August (1 year after completion) we need to chase it up with Polaris.  He recommends after the first bill you arrange to pay subsequent bills by filling in the direct debit.

We are not renting out at the moment so don't know what taxes are linked to that.

We completed on a 3 bedder Jardine apartment in June 2008.Our Solicitor has calculated our tax is 93 Euros which I think takes us up to  June 2009.

Solicitors fee if I want them to complete the inland revenue form 210 is 209 Euros for myself and my wife.As far as I am aware you both need to complete a form. 

How much have other people been charged for getting the forms completed and sent off?

We were charged much the same in fees and as we completed sept 08 our taxes were much less. Do you need to have a solicitor to complete these forms for you or is there a cheaper way to pay your tax.

I can't see why you would have to use a Solicitor. The major issue however is the forms are in Spanish so this is where they've got you. There's a translation shop in Campassol.I'll go and ask them when I'm over at Easter.

We have just had our tax payment done by our solicitor, wish we could have done it some other way !

There are 4 of us down as owners (2 couples) tax was split as being 21.11 each this being 84.44 euros.

Solicitors fees were 104.40 euros for each person this being 417.60 euros. Plus 7 euros bank fees.

Total ending up being 509.04 Euros.
