With the amount of bad news on the forum
Surely someone will have some good news and will then post it.
We will be over on Condado next week to add to our pad and all we read is doom and gloom.
Come on all cheer up this is a great place to be, if we make it through we will all be laughing.
Then all those who are negging you out will tell you how lucky you are...
Here ends the rant

We're with you fella 100%. We just got to get through this spell and out the other side and we will be living it! With a project of this size and of this quality there was always gonna be teething issues and combined with what's happening around the globe at the moment we just gotta keep the faith. We are still so happy to have our own little piece of paradise out there and we're sure all of us will be feeling the same way in just a year or so; if not sooner.

cant wait to play the golf course for the first time(hopefully oct/nov)-will be taking a few lake balls though-lol...the foro will be open soon.the new airport is coming next year.the property crash will end(just a long matter of time but one advantage especially to jardines owners is no building work in front of us for the foreseeable future.).and i think we are all lucky we are with polaris who are completing most properties or offering alternative similar ones.some other resorts have just gone belly up.does anyone know of another resort in spain that is still building-there aint alot i can tell you.so chin up guys spring and summer are coming.tennis is only 3 e per hour(you can book in advance or you might be shunted off)-its over 25e on la manga and they have gone into administration.the soccer pitches look fabulous.i have never seen so much car parking space in my life.i have never seen so many pools(we can use any on the resort)
happy days
ps hope to see you sneeking out early next saturday jason-come on you blues.

Like this thread.....good news for us is that we're all but done with the running around and will be having our first proper holiday in our apartment in May - only sorry it's not sooner. It looks stunning (definitely biased there!) as does our garden and the rest of the resort.
Looks like we have some really good people fighting our corner over the community fee and the builders certainly seem to be building!
Glass is more than half full & this time next year when things have been finished / settled down we believe that it will be truely outstanding.

If you follow some of my less bizarre stuff then you'll know how positive I am, i'll find good in anything ........ even George !!
And it ain't difficult to find the good in what we've bought into, yeah there are 1 or 2 issues, but i constantly say compare and contrast with what you have in the UK and whilst there are a few issues these would be much bigger (and more expensive) issues in the UK.

I think we are streets ahead (no pun intended) of many resorts and envied by many. Polaris are getting a rough time like anyone else. The Polaris President is respected especially when he stands up for hours taking flack, he is always prepared to give his time to meet concerned owners. We are better off than some of the other resorts because we have so many Spanish people who have bought on here and they are keeping us ahead of the game. By the end of the year when more facilities are running I am sure we will feel even better. Its not pleasant with no street lights at night, but the sunny warm days happy atmosphere with children enjoying the gardens and the pool... how they do it I do not know!! Spectacular mountains and coastline so near. Reasonably priced tapas bars with sea views what else do you need? The glass is more than half full. Just trying to get more in it .

Well we are just loving it! I managed to get the Doris a part time job (2 months into it now), so that is all of my Spain costs taken care of and any worries with it. Even with the community fees still to be resolved, and the economic problems, you have to see the bigger picture, and what we will have 5 years from now. I think the only ones to have any issues are investors who were looking for a quick dollar. If you invested for a fantastic long term holiday home, I still don think we have too much to be disappointed by.
Anyway, 36 hours till I arrive for 10 days with the ankle biters, so Jardine 5 is about to lose any peace and quiet. Sounds like Manuel in the surgery is still without a buddy if its taking 30mins for service. I may choose my nights and self cater on my patio instead with a bottle of vino and some chilled San Miguels!
Hope to see a few of you guys around this week and next. Looking forward to chatting about all things good and all things we have to look forward too! Should be a perfect week if the Rams see off Wolves 2moro and the Blades turn over Florest
:o)

Just had an email from our keyholder who is one of the 5 members of the "Condado community of owners" I believe the others are all Spanish.
If the below is correct, and I have no reason to doubt it, then this is good news for all owners at Condado.
We were out last week and had a fantastic time, the resort looks stunning. I walked the golf course, which will be breathtaking and a real challenge to every handicap when its finished. When you walk the site you really get a true perspective of just how enormous this project is for PW. The costs for just the perimeter fencing and trees/plants must have run into millions.I think we should all be grateful and happy of what has been delivered so far considering this economic climate.
Spoke to a guy at the airport on the way home and he told me his community charges have just doubled to 1200 E p.a. for a 1 bed apartment, no pool and little facilities. He had been to Condado and was really envious of our resort.
Anyway here is the email text.......
" I was in meetings all day - 9am- 9pm with the Ayuntamiento, Alhama Council, RPM and then Jose Luis Hernandez
Essentially, we have reduced the fees and need ratification. Further reductions have been identified but we need to wait until all the Jardine Presidents etc have been elected before they can be put to the Community, rather than a band of 5 blokes fighting for all!!
Some other things of note after meeting the President of Polaris World: -
July 2009 - Foro with Italian / Rice / Thai restaurants and an Irish Bar. Supermarket to move to new Foro and existing supermarket to become a gym
Aug 2009 - Driving range
Nov 2009 - 18 holes of golf
Nov 2010 - Club House
Improved security at the gates - i.e. stopping all cars and asking for details of people entering the site
Switching on of lights in Jardines
Reduction in gardening requirements over winter months"

Good to see the positives reported. We do need people to buy on Condado for the resort to reach its full potential and I'm sure potential buyers read these threads looking for reassurance. Would you buy on Hacienda or La Torre after reading their threads? Although there will be negatives lets try to keep the good news coming.

Hi all,
Just returned from a week on Condado and all I can say is ......... fantastic ! The place is really starting to take shape, the golf course is starting to green up and mature, the Foro is nearing completion, the weather was great, vistied some great places nearby and can't wait to get back ! Also, a great mix of nationalities with a lot of Spanish around.
It really is tremendous.
Only one negative was the way some people were treating the golf course. From our terrace we witnessed:
a) A Spanish teenager walk across the course including newly laid fairways, greens and tees;
b) Someone take their Scottie dog for a walk across the tees including doing a number two and then trying to cover it up by digging a hole in the tee ! To be fair, the owner did pick up the whoopsie but why walk across the seeded tee ?
c) A family take their dog for a run across a newly laid green. Thought this couldn't get worse until the lady of the family followed them with a pushchair !
Hopefully people will become more aware of the needs of the course once it is in use !
Anyway, forget all that - the place is going to be great !

You got it spot on . Why would any invester looking in on all the negativity want to invest. Keep the good news coming
We have a little gold mine here if we will just believe it.
The place needs to be talked up not down.
Under current conditions i feel we are doing just fine.....
Love it

The good news is, the information gained from this forum and the people on EOS and others, particularly the Spanish owners making sure they identify any problems and making sure PW put them right and forcing RPM to reduce our costs. This will help make CDA one of the best resorts in Spain and make us all glad we own there.
