Air Conditioning - latest prices

As some are due for completion I thought I would pass on recent quotes I have been given for air conditioning.   These are for a two bed, duplex penthouse.

James Turney - pctairconditioning@hotmail.com.  James'  price now for a 24000btu ducted a-class inverter fujitsu-general machine is €2100, this is inclusive of all costs.  Also needed for a duplex a 9000btu standard machine upstairs, this price ranges from €450 to €700, depending on the quality you decide upon.  So in total, for the above property, you are looking at around €2550.  This also includes their four year guarantee on all their work. 

Gary Leggett info@polaraircostablanca.com.  Again, for a two bed duplex Gary proposes to use a 24000btu fujitsu general inverter  ducted system plus a 9000 btu single split fujitsu general unit at a cost of 2750.00 euros inc iva and installation.  Gary has said that this can be obtained in the non inverter system at 2550.00 euros, but the inverter system may be preferable to reduce running costs.

Both James and Garry have been very quick with their responses and extremely helpful.  Both companies have been recommended by people who have used them.  Personally, I can only pass on what I have been told, I have no past personal experience of their installation service.

I thought it only fair to post both quotes.

For those people trying to contact Gary Leggett of Polar Air Conditioning I would refer you to the thread on Condado de Alhama where it has indicated that Gary has returned to England. I can confirm that this is definitely the case as I have now discovered this for myself after looking for a quote from him. I visited his home and his neighbours have informed me that he has packed up and gone back to the UK. 

I would therefore strongly recommend that anyone looking for a quotation or has work planned with Polar Air wait no longer as he has definitely returned to the UK. In turn I would thoroughly recommend James at PCT airconditioning. Anita has attached his details below in this thread. He fitted airconditioning for me at a very competitive price and in a highly professional manner and his after sales care is excellent..

If you are interested it might be worth quoting eye on spain as I know he quoted rates to Anita when the possibility of a 'group discount' was being considered.

 I would like to highly recommend Furniture Centre España. Their air con company Chillout Costa Blanca C.B. have a vast amount of experience on pretty much all the golf sites around Alicante and murcia. The are pretty much the cheapest around as well! you can contact them through either fcespain com or chilloutcostablanca com  

They do everything from supply, fitting, service and offer upto 5 year warranties.

 Just had a quote through from chillout cb, they can supply and fit either Fujitsu-General or Samsung 24000btu and 9000btu split type for the price of 2599€ these come with 5 year warranty.

when purchasing a/c it is certainly worth paying a little extra for the A+ graded models that use less electricity, you will be surprised by just how expensive electricity is here, we were unpleasantly surprised by our first bill!  Hence, very happy we paid a little more for low consumption machines, it certainly makes a big difference if you are thinking of renting your apartments out.

I also discovered that there is a cheaper rate tariff for electricity and consequently having been chaning over all our neighbours contracts in order for them to make huge savings (that's what you get for being the only spanish speaking resident!) We saved 50e on our last bill alone!

I hope that this posting will be helpful for those of you who are thinking of using their voucher towards air conditioning. I have been living in Roda Golf & Beach Resort for almost three years now and we purchased our air conditioning unit directly from Calidona. It is a Carrier system and we have never had any problems with it to date. The installation took a very short time as the space in the apartment is designed for the system supplied by the builder and the unit is both very effective and necessary particularly during the long hot summer months. 

I have to admit that we did not shop around at the time and as we were one of the first on site there was little information to go on apart from some research on the internet. However, the few hundred euros which we would have saved then by going with another provider/supplier are now negligible as we have had absolutely no maintenance or repair costs to date.

We are Roda owners and were also early completors on Phase 1.  We used an independent contractor who put in a superior system for 2000 Euros vs the Roda quoted cost of about 2800 euro at the time and we too have had absolutely no problems with it at all over the last 3 years. 

I do think you do have to shop around and do a fair bit of internet searching and "interviewing" as it is a a fairly major purchase.  I believe we got a good job at a good price.

Hi all, Buying an Air Conditioner  may not be that easy as there are many companies launching various types of air conditioners packed with many features. Confusion could be whether to buy an window AC or a split AC?These days one can easily buy a split AC with the price of an window AC. Many new companies are offering huge discounts on split ACs. I am also using Samsung AR12JC5USUQ 1 Ton 5 Star Split AC (White) which i bought for just Rs 27,990. :)
